leadership
no contest. Unless I was necro, or have 3 morale artifacts, I'll take leadership ANYDAY.
The calculation on the damage when one gets lucky is not 200% like it used to be in HOMM1 & HOMM2. It's max is 200%, and I don't know what the minimum is ... but whenever I see a luck strike it's always between 140%-180% of a normal strike.
There are MANY tactical advantages to leadership as well ... for example:
- your opponent has his unit waiting at 7 spaces away, and you have a unit with a speed of 5 ... and he's waiting for you to move first. In other words, an opponent almost never anticipates a morale boost, in which that lack of anticipation will give you an advantage / surprise.
- reaching accross the field to take out those pesky shooters
- preventing the all annoying low morale freeze.
for me, primarily because of the statistical effects, I value basic leadership as much as advanced luck

I have to go for leadership. I think it is better to move twice than doing "double damage" (look above).
For example if you attack with your blackdragons, and kill a stack right off, and then you get a morale bonus and can kill another stack. If you instead of getting the morale bonus was given a luck bonus it wouldnt made a difference because the stack would alreday died at a normal blow.

Hell, I'll take both, unless I'm the Necro of course. Luck has one advantages over morale. If you are attacking something that hasn't retaliated yet, I'd hope for my luck to kick in(fewer creatures to retaliate). Other than that, morale will serve you better in the long run. However, there was one time when my Crusaders got a luck shot on both of their hits. Devastating, just devastating.

I once had marksmen get a morale boost, and ALL 4 shots were lucky!
now if your crusaders had those luck boosts AND more morale ... then maybe I don't want to play you

besides all of the reasons stated, negative luck doesn't hurt you in this game. (which is probably a flaw)

Leadership.
If I hit a creature (that I know is gonna die) because it's the only thing that's in range, and I get lucky.. Turn over
BUT!
If I hit a creature (that I know is gonna die) because it's the only thing that's in range, and I get morale.. I get another go!
It's mathmaticaly proven!

Leadeship
I both cases you get a doble (or almost) damage bonus so is better to have the ability to use that extra damage on two diferent creatures then spend it on one.
