Well...
I almost agree with sos, but I figure mysticism. Mite aswell. I've come accross a few situation's where mysticism would have come in handy if I had it.
It is what I consider a space filler though. I would need to aquire all of my personal essentaial's before I would take it.

oh, gee... this is tough. They both suck quite a bit.
Problem with mysticism is that if you're missing 200 spell points, getting 3 of them back doesn't mean that much.
Eagle Eye... well, I wrote an aticle about that one on my site...
I too would probably have to choose mysticism if it came down to that.

Mysticism can be somewhat useful when there are no well or mage guild around. I would always choose it over Eagle Eye. In fact, I can barely remember what happens when a hero uses his Eagle Eye skill. There a small window similar to the one where we gain an artifact, right?

Eagle Eye
Sometimes it can prove nice especially for a Battle mage. ~Dragon smiles~ Learning Resurrection and Armageddon can be quite useful. What a shame Fifth level spells can't be learnt. DD is great for this. Or TP.
Of course, this works on small maps only. On Large maps Mysticism can work better for might classes. But as I said, I'm magic fan. So, I'd generally take EA.

LOL
eagle-eye is a skill for people who plan to lose!
I'm serious, I mean, if someone casts armageddon or resurrection, whereas you don't have them ... do you actually think you're going to win AND learn that spell? ok, well lets say you win ... good game, you won.
It's almost ironic, you learn a spell only by getting your @$$ beat by it. This is the fundamental principle of eagle-eye. The odds of any eagle-eye learning a powerful like chain lightning, is much less likely than one DYING from chain lightning. And if you die from chain lightning, you just can't learn it.
By the way, Mysticism for me.

My thing about Eagle eye is that any spell you learn in combat is a spell you would have gotten after you take over their town anyway.
however, if EE worked immediately (like during combat, you could cast spells you learn) and worked on L5 spells and adventure map spells...
...it would still suck, but maybe not as much.

Rouge, I think you summed that up..
I totaly agree with your opinion.
The only way I'd find EA useful, is if the *campaine* desiner gave a heroe a spell, and took it out of all mage guild's..
Even then, just one spell, for an entire skill slot, you can have that one spell.. I hope it's vital for your conquer!

Mysticism is better, I think. It's always good to restore more than one spell point per turn.

Mysticism.
Not a very good skill, but everything beats eagle eye...

Egle Eye really sucks, but does anyone knows if eagle eye also learns spells that are resisted by your creatures? It would turn eagle eye a little more usefull if it works.

Then eagle eye is really useless, and all that artifacts that increase it are also useless.

Eagle eye would be decent if it worked on spells cast by creatures. I mean, Master Genies cast a lot of very good spells, and if a wizard could fill her army with master genies and learn prayer and fire shield and all that cool stuff, I think eagle eye might be almost worthwhile...
...but it appears it was taken out of heroes IV, so it doesn't matter anymore.

have to agree with zsa... in most cases eagle eye can't help you... if you lose, you lose the hero as well, if you win, no low level learned by the eagle eye an make a difference...

Thank you
but having Intelligence and Mysticism just sux. I usually play Magic heroes and gah, when you have 500 SP you don't care how much you regain: 1 or 4. The thing about EE is true but since these both skills suck, I will go for the lesser evil. For me. EE is great for Stronghold, believe it or now.

Imagine expert intelligence with 500 sp's! You would never have to worry about gaining spell point's again! LoL
That kinda knowledge w/intelect only came useful to me once, where 3 day's into the senario I found out there are no well's, or (even magic guild's) around.
Even if it became a prob, the merchant's sold me mana regenerant artifact's.
