Quote: Try to us one specialist in dendroids.
This will give more speed to your dendroids soldiers, making they play before the skeletons, binding the enemy always.
Try to protect your dendroids, but when the enemy see their importance in the battle, will try to destroy it by anyway.
Ryland?
I will try . . .
Thanks . .

My friend is an expert player. And IMHO I think that I am a good player. We are playing HOMM3 since it has been made . . (in 1999 year i think)
Expert is a "subjective" validation. When do you normaly meet him on an XL map, and how many skeletons does he have at that time?
Sorry, I misunderstand you . .
He has 1000 - 1500 sceleton. .
It depends. I don't remember well. .

Lol...
The only reason why u should take Ryland is because of diplomacy. If diplo is allowed in your games, then of course you should either take Ryland/Rampart or Castle/Adela. I would prefer castle, coz those Archangels will help ya more....
And dendroids may bind your skeletons, but this can be dispelled aswell. Or u just teleport your skeletons away...

This dendroid bind will neutralize some spells, like haste.
And diplomacy can give Ryland some strong units, allowing him to mix good creatures of high levels

Lets try to get the answers from different angle?
How many heroes do you/your friend usually use?
What is your usual week 1 build order?
What spells do you usually use/most concentrate on?
These are just few to give a hint on what sort of players you are, since ppl that play together tend to have similar choices until they go online.
----------
From what I've heard in this thread your friend is not unbeatable even with necropolis. You shouldn't be able to even get close to victory if he was

Lots of turns . .
Final battle happens when both our main heroes are level 20 or up . .

This give you a lot of time to get strong units with Ryland diplomacy or to get a high number of dendroids, who can be built in the first week.

I think you're right . . That is why I want to find out what I am doing wrong . .
Usually I have on main hero to bild up . .
Other heroes use for resources.
Week one build order is as soon as posible to build Capitol.
(you know the order)
About spells, Implosion is important part of strategy . .
I like when my mai hero is mobile. Town portal, fly etc . .

First of all, you should use more than one hero for fighting (even if one hero is your main, you should use others as well to clean the areas faster and develop faster.
Pick mostly GOLD from chests (little bird tells me you go for XP)
DO not go towards capitol, dwellings are a priority. Build a town hall if you must, but city hall and capitol require too much build turns that can be used better.
If you meet with heroes lvl 20+ try using mass spells (haste, slow, att/deff modifiers) instead of implosion and the like, with that huge armies they are the spells to be used...
more to come, im curently writing on 4 forums so i cant be fast

I realized that. SO now I use heroes to explore map and take resourses . .

Try to practice with those few mentioned points in mind for a while, soon you will notice improvement.
In addition, Also try to pick might heroes, and skills like armorer, offense, logistics should be your priority.. do not take some of the beginners favourite skills like sorcery.

Quote: And which weapon u have vs 2-3k of skeletons?
In this case, Necropolis vs Tower, cast slow on skeletons and shoot him with all archers, and when he gets so close, about half of the starting units, use your nagas, without retaliation, together with archers and golems, who have high defense.
And you think the Necropolis player doesn't have any spells to cast? Like Haste on skeletons, Prayer on skeletons, Teleport on skeletons, Counterstrike on skeletons, Clone on skeletons....etc....
When it gets to your last turn before the skeletons, blind them. When you're done with all other units, just implode them, attack with nagas and golems, while your archers kill them
It works for me.
Oh, and cloning Titans before thier turn is very helpful (especially when they can be more than 1 round if no1 gets to them...

Necro is only overpowered on Random maps. Random maps tend to have many more creatures than a pre-written scenario, I would ask him to play certain scenario like Time's Up! or Battle of the Sexes or something of that nature. In a Random map, I don't think you have much of a chance.

Also I don't think you can cast prayer on skeletons.

Um, how can you blind an Undead?
I'm sure it doesn't work for you either

or you could go to map generator and make an area for you guys to play and fill the map with non-living. All golems, gargoyles, and elementals. Then tell him they were random units... hahahaha

Neela and Torosar are good heroes. But you can use hero from another town. If you see in tavern Dace, Gunnar, Tazar, Mephala, Kyrre, Crag Hack, use them as main. There are more exelent heroes.
Explore thread HOMM3 Tactics, there are a lot of advices.
