The New Map Archives

We have changed the Map Archives around a bit. Many people did'nt like the fact that there were so many groups, so I have decided to do something about it. I have combined HoMM3 Map Archives I, II and III into one Archive and HoMM3 Map Archives IV, V and VI into another.
Along with that, I have added some more utilities and around 100 maps I found from H3 Trio that had never been released for many years.
I have also arranged the maps alphabetically through folders, making it easier to navigate in the files section, instead of waiting and waiting for the pages to load. I have also found more documentations (Around 200) for maps that never had them before.
I have combined Campaign Archives I and II into one Archive as well as the WoG Archives.
And with the HoMM2 Archives, they are also alphabetically arranged with separate folders.
Instead of having 11 group sites, we now have 5! I could'nt reduce the amount of sites anymore since they are pretty much full as they stand now.
So, bottom line here is, less registration, more maps and utilities than before. It should make things easier for those who like to play custom maps from HoMM1 to HoMM3 now.
Here are the sites:

HoMM3 Maps A - L

HoMM3 Maps M - Z and HoMM3 Tools

All Campaigns and RMG Texts

WoG Maps and Tools

HoMM2 and HoMM1 Maps

Translated HoMM3 Maps

HoMM3/WoG files

I have been adding and adding....
I swear there must be enough maps from HoMM 1 to WoG and everything in between so that you could play a different map or campaign a day for 11 years without playing the same one twice!
I must've added over 500 documentations (Original) now, along with the 1000 maps or so that have docs already. Map packs now added too. Quite a few more campaigns now added. Lots more tools and utilities.

Thanks Sal,
To tell you the truth, I don't know what QP's are all about. I guess it's better than being yelled at. All I wanted to do was let everyone know things on the Archives have changed for the better. Rebuilt by popular demand!

QP's give nothing (except free flood when you have 10+ I think) and everyone will say you they are not important. But I remember an April joke where Valeryi (not me, the other) removed all QP from all users and everyone got crazy, angry and aggressive, some quited, others suicided, some went naked to get them back.

It was the greatest moment I ever saw in this forum. Huge drama for small red stars from people who enjoyed discussing till that philosophy, science, religion, literature. Awesome.

People really do that over a virtual red star? Take out frustrations playing an extremely hard map on impossibe instead.

What I have done is lessened the amount of registrations. Instead of 11 groups, there are now only 5, with even more maps and files than before.
You have to register to be a part of HC, no? Besides, it's free and takes about 1 minute of your time for each group. Once you join all the groups, the front page allows for easy access between group sites.
I chose Yahoo because they plan to be around for a very long time, they're free and many people use it.

Just a small update:
Once you join a group and you click on the 'Files' button, the map folders will come into view. Once you select a folder, and click it, you will find that most(around 90 percent) of the maps will now have an English description. The map titles and maps themselves has not changed for originality purposes.
We also offer a language translator located in the 'Links' section for those who may need it. And this will also come in handy for translating a document or map to your specific language. All groups save the HoMM2 Archive has a translator link.

Yes people are still interested in them. Especially online players who like a bare bones duel.

I would like to add that Jim Vogan and I have been translating non English maps from all the Archives and making them available for everyone to download. As of this date, we have 175 maps translated with another 225 to go. Possibly some campaigns will be translated for good measure.

You can find them here.

After the H3 maps are finished, H4 maps will be translated. That's the plan, anyway.

Hello Bytebandit,

I greatly appreciate your work in establishing map archives for Heroes 2 and 3. I was going to offer my webspace as another storage site for these items (that can sidestep registration) but I realize the whole point of using Yahoo is to sidestep unreliable webspace of individuals. So instead I will just say thank you.

Regards,
- N

I know this is quite an old topic and activity here isn't that big (I guess ByteBandit isn't around here anymore?), but I was wondering if it would be all right for me to collect these archived maps into packs (as asked above), organized by game and maybe size, and distribute them via hommdb.com. Of course original authors would be credited.

I'm sure people are still looking for custom maps for older games, and I think this would be a good way to share them to more people. Any thoughts?

Roman, without knowing what archive you refer to, you can find lots of H4 maps on Celestialheavens.com and maps4heroes.com and other sites.

I know, but I'm interested in map archive from dead sites, such as "Map Heaven", suddenly there are unique maps, that are not on Celestialheavens and maps4heroes. I need a archive from ByteBandit
