6 towns could be very good idea, 'cause you would know them better and they are easier to remember. But in the end, it all depends how will guys from 3DO do that.

It's all about balance
6 towns might be superb or it might be dreadful. It all depends on what those 6 towns consist of. I think 6 towns that are well developed and interesting to play will be much better then 8 towns that resembled each other a little too much. We just have to wait and see.

Correct, 6 towns are better than 10 towns, if the 6 towns are more exting to play with...

6 towns could be...
... more than enough - but this depends on units - how *different* they are from each other - how *special* each of them is - this way it´d take you much longer to really get to know a town and completely use its advantages in order to win...

towns
8 towns are better than 6 almost all times because if same people make heroes3 and heroes4 they will not add much new things, just see the list of creatures in heroes3 and heroes 4 they are almost same, I mean already known creatures , but I like 8 towns of restoration of erathia more than 9 towns of ab and sod because conflux is much stronger than other towns so 6 towns can be better than 8 , but I m sure that heroes4 will have several addons with new towns so the main reason of 6 towns in heroes 4 that 3do like money very much, and they want to take it as faster as possible

I would say go for 10 and get rid of these creatures that do not belong to any castle. Who cares about a dragon costing 30,000 Gold and 20 Mercury if you can cast some magic on it.
Also can anyone tell me what is the use of the first(weakest) creature in a town, even if you had thousands of it. A highly skilled hero with lots of experience, will be able to cast some spell and get rid of them. He even does not need to do it right away since these creatures are usually the slowest.
A suggestion would be instead of 6, make it 12 two of each school or magic theme or whatever with no upgrades and get rid of the weakest 2 creatures from each town and add some nice ones not as weak, or as slow, or as unuseful!
I think it is too late and I am sure whatever 3do decided, it will be AWESOME. I have been playing Heroes since 1995 and no game ever matched it. I can't wait for a really cool new one.

umm...have you ever actually played the game legend? Level 1 creatures not useful? They are weak, yes, but saying that units are useless makes absolutely no sense. Pawns in chess can't do as much as a queen, but you still need them. The low level troops are your early game troops, used to take mines and gather resources.
And anyway, if you got rid of low level creatures then 4th level creatures would be low level and the weakest. Now they would be useless and have to go. Ok, only dragons in heroes 4. Yeah that's the way it should be.

it depends on what the game will be, but if what ive heard is correct, these 6 towns will be far better then the 8 in heroes3.
like you could be the same castle, but be on different terrain, and thus produce different troops, so actually 1 town is kind more like 2 or 3 or more in its own right

Yeah
Because you have 12 VERY DIFFERENT Creatures in every town!
Thats much better than 14 creatures -7 because they are the same..... is only 7 creatures in every town....
But in homm4 there will be 12 different creatures in every town! So 72 different creatures! And many? Neutralls?

I don't mind having less towns than before as long that the creatures have more diverses attacks i.e: ArchAngels can ressurect has a secondary attack. Towns don't always have to build the same monster generator per lvl etc. If you think about it StarCraft has 3 clans and yet it is very popular today. My point is that if there is depts in the creatures then 6 towns is justified.

Pluvious my friend, I am not trying to make an argue, but I think you did not get me right. Also it is all about opinions isn't it??
The answer is yes, I have played the game and probably the only game I ever enjoyed, and just like everyone I do believe that I am a Legend and so is the hero Alamar (My favourie since Homm1).
Can you tell me how can you win a mine at the first week in the game if you are playing at level impossible and you have very week creatures unable to move quickly neither shoot and you want to get a mine protected by lots of orcs, now you don't have enough resourses to waste. You have to be really careful on spending and you need to expand your territory and kingdom. I did not say to make them able to take out higher levels easily, but make them more useful.
Again, it is all opinions and my opinions is not to increase the health, no but to make them move faster or probably shoot from a distance.

TheLegend,
If Alamar is your favourite hero - then why you hate little creatures - you can ressurect them better than anything else. Also 1st level creatures are free from dwellings. Having 2000 tryglos is kind of little nightmare - if your hero is good - and their health is 12000 - hard to beat them - even with magic - and you can of course anti-magic them or just ressurect them. My fav.dungeon creature is evil-eye - so I try to start with it at begining and not use tryglos at all - i'just keep them in dungeon in big quantites.
Also - skeletons - my fav.unit - hard to manage it - and really just useful in XL maps - but anyway - that's great 1st level unit.
These little morons - gremlins - they are also good - not so - but make trouble anyway.

1st lvl creatures usefulness
I use the 1st lvl creatures early in the game to soak up the attacks, per your example if playing on 200% and wanting that mine guarded by lots of orcs. The Imps, Gremlins, ect are gonna soak up the attack (If you have haste they only have to once and you can take that stack across to kill the shooters, sometimes when I have others that can take out the orcs I let the lvl 1's stand arcoss the battlefield and do not advance them knowing they will only sustain 1/2 damage and they foolish orcs will still throw across the battlefield at em and leave my more precious creatures alone. Also later in game the horde of lvl 1's you have left in castle may not win any major battles but the horde and your towers will keep small heroes and scouts from stealing an otherwise unoccupied town

NO!!!
8 Towns would have been better than 6. I don't know if you all have read the "i got reply", but if they made 8 towns and balanced them it would have been much better. A lot more to explore. I read from the "I got reply" that they made 6 to balance the magic and so on. If there are sone towns that are chaos magic and some death magic, there could also have been some towns that could have combined the two of them. Or some other magics...
It is possible and I think it would have been much more fun to have 8 towns rather than 6.
Or more oc course.
The more the better !!!

6 or 8. Who cares ?
Why does it matter, 6 or 8 towns ? The difference is not that big. Isn't gameplay much more important ? I think much more important is how the new heroes skills or magic system work in H4. How they implemented the fighting heroes. These things are much more important. Remember H4 is a much more different than H3 compared to H2. There are some radical changes that could be a hit or a big disappointment!
Also, if you really want more towns and units. Just wait for H4 expenssion packs

To Krutselno
The should give some indication to whether i am serious
I do have ALL expansion packs in the Heroes series. Generally an expansion pack contains:
-new maps, new campaigns (obviously)
-more difficult maps (very smart since only experienced players in the standard version will buy the expansion pack anyway)
-new towns (more seems to sell)
-new units (more seems to sell)
-new artifacts (more seems to sell)
Maybe you found the expansion packs dissapointing but they are not more than that. Just an expansion. Don't expect too much!
