I think one thing that would help is if the equilibris guys would add a bunch of new adventure objects so that mapmakers don't end up putting 20 learning stones or 10 trees on a map

I'm reading this

Well, I agree that this...
Quote:
the main reason we have so many maps where you can get tons of big heroes.. mapmakers feel a need to fill the space with stuff to do, so they fill it with a bunch of powerups

... is a problem.

We are ready to add new adventure objects, if we have an artwork, of course. So the next question is - what kind of objects mapmakers need the most? "Empty" objects without properties (mountains and trees, some ruins, may be)? Some movement/morale/luck boosters? Something else?

And one more important thing - if someone has ideas and is able to make a good artwork - you are welcome! Artwork should be in PSD-format with 4-9 frames for animation.

although animation is of course nice, there are at least a decent amount of h4 objects that don't have animation (or at least the animation is so slight that it isnt noticeable).  i'll post some ideas that i have later, when have more time.

today i saw the "lord's estate" object in the screenshots section.. i'm encouraged that you're makin new adventure objects!

is the lord's estate the same as libraries of enlightenment from h3?  we already got these in some h4 maps using quest huts but they arent truly the same as the ones in h3 since the best that mapmakers can do using scripts is have one HERO for each player visit it, but it'd be really cool if you could make it so each hero can visit it, but only once. (which is how it was in h3, of course).

other ideas i thought you might like..

an adventure object that gives the hero of the player's choice the ability to cast a spell, but ONLY FOR ONE BATTLE.  then it goes away.  just like hp and dmg bonuses from a pool of power go away after one battle.  you might have 10-20 possible spells that it might give.  It would be even cooler if you could allow mapmakers in the editor to customize which spells it may offer.. just like you can customize which magic skills a witch hut may offer.  and mapmakers could really have fun with this... since you only get to use a spell for one battle, no spells are really off-limits, even really powerful ones.  it would probably be best to allow the player to visit this object once a week, with a new random spell offered each week.
or you could give the hero the ability to cast the spell for 3 days then the spell goes away.

and i think the same idea maybe could be applied to artifacts... an adventure object which gives you a random treasure/minor artifact for a limited time... maybe 3 days, then the arty dissapears.  this might be pretty hard to do, but it would be cool

and i really liked your picture of the "lord's estate".. can you find maybe 10-20 more cool pics like that and just make them into empty quest huts?  there's so few quest huts right now.. mapmakers sometimes end up using the same quest hut in the SAME map for 2 completely different purposes... it would be nice for each quest hut to have it's own identity  surely making empty quest huts doesnt take that long does it?

also a new special ability you might give a walker unit is ability to climb castle walls  i think would be cool way to make an underused unit a li'l bit better.

a new spell that might be cool is a spell that would make a unit "ethereal" for a round or two.. meaning the unit is immune to physical attacks, and IT can't make physical attacks either, but it can still have spells cast on it and it can still cast spells.  would be useful for genies or any creature spellcaster  maybe a L3 spell.
might make a relic artifact which gives the hero the ethereal ability.  and then maybe a minor arty which makes the hero ethereal for first 3 turns of battle..

EDIT:  ohh almost forgot.. a really cool thing which h4 does not have right now is a GIVE/TAKE HERO script.. we have GIVE/TAKE CREATURES, but not heroes
mapmakers so far, in giving heroes, have used a bunch of prisons or had an unreachable neutral hero which is changed to the player's color and bombs are used to clear the path so he is reachable.  but these ways are cumbersome..

also, if you could make a slight modification to Prisons.. when you have the prison as a "random hero" make it so that you can customize in map editor which heroes it may possibly be.  just like you can customize which skills witch hut may give.

also if you could do the same with the external tavern, i would kiss your feet !

what's wrong with wall climbing?  and ethereal would not be too powerful if you limited it to one casting per hero.
you shouldn't not use ideas from other games just for the sake of not using ideas from other games.  if an idea is cool, and would work well for h4, then use it

Check underground; there is the map. The above layer is there because it couldn't be removed with standard editor. Both Spirit Islands and Valley of Spiritless are essentially under and surface layers of Spiritmongers, with some light differences (some cooperative elements of the original are removed or replaced) and, of course, the map's filesizes are about only half of the original.

They also have the same unique rulings of Spiritmongers (readme file is in Spiritmonger's zip).

I can't view them either when I'm using Windows 2000/XP, but with 98/ME I can. I have no idea what could cause it. Nevertheless, they work in the game itself with all Windowses to my experience.

Not a bad wish list!

Of all that I can promise only a dozen Quest-Huts If we receive artworks from some creative community members, it will be great.

May be some prison customisation.
