Please define good and evil.
atm i think (not very seriously) that in the opinion of person_x, there are things that person_x likes and there are things that person_x doesn't like. and this should be the personal opinion of person_x.

unfortunately, person_x thinks that he should generalize his preferences, judging all people from his point of view. and not only people, often even animals, and microorganisms, and whatever.

and when the majority of people like some things and dislike other things, those things will be called 'good' and 'evil,' 'right' and 'wrong,' etc. and when there is some anomalious person that likes things that the majority dislikes, then he can say that he likes evil things.

i guess this is more or less how the homm alignments are arranged (lifestyles). and the morale penalty, as far as i remember, means that the stack doubts if he is fighting for the cause that is good in his opinion.

ok, whatever, i hope no one gets too serious with this kind of reasoning, it may be a bit more tricky than seems.

we could, theoretically, have an exorcist monastery or missionary church to convert imps into pikemen, etc. and a shaman's house where a pikeman can become a faery (you would have to pay for all the weed, though).

i smell an unified system here, and so i am skeptical. the undead transformer makes the best sense imho, if it wasn't there it would feel as if something was missing in the undead town. with other factions, the possibility of conversion is much more arguable imho.

i think that the morale penalties are not severe enough. and with the simultaneous retaliation in homm4, i guess the penalties became even softer.

imho the morale effects should be much more noticeable. in real life, too, battles have often been severely effected by morale. i don't think you can achieve good results if you make the sprites fight against their will for the cause of the stinking and rotten undead.

this would be somewhat complicated, though, because the player might be nature-aligned and everyone can see that the zombies in the army are actually fighting for the cause of the sprites.

also, i would like to see betrayal in the beginning of a battle if you have e.g. druids in your undead army and you engage in battle with e.g. dendroids.

also, i would probably like natural enemies automatically attack each other, with probability based on their distance on the battlefield.

and, i am not pretending that i am actually quoting anything here, just tryed it out how the '/quote' tags would look as seperators between topics.
