Install Problem
Hi,
When I try to install HOMM 4 it crash just after I accept the license agreement. So I try a couple of things to see what was the problem. I try to install it on another computer and it works, so this is not the CD. After, I try to copy the CD on my computer and install the game but it crash again.
Do you have any ideas what could be the problem. I have a P4 2.4, 520 megs ram, LiteOnIt CD-ROM, GeForce 4 MX.
Thanks for your help.

I think you have to check:
1) the version of the game (eng, rus, ???, patched, cracked, original)
2) cd-rom driver
3) chech whether your CPU's box's inside isn't full of garbage
4) be sure that you have good cd-rom, because I have 64x26X64X26 CD-RW and it cannot read any CD. can u imagine?
5) for more, view Codex of Axeoth or other thread in this forum
Glad to help if I helped.

I have the same problem... I don't know how to fix it, but it seams that when the installshield program open the sysinfo.exe it crashes, so it's probobly some hardware conflict...

I also have that problem. I have found a way to bypass it, i hope.
Get someone to install Heroes. Then get them to burn the Heroes folder eg. C:/Program Files/3DO/Heroes or whatever. Then copy that folder to your computer and if the problem was with install shield it should work. Beware i have not tested this yet!

Yes, that could work... but the installshield also adds data to the Windows register. That could be a problem, but I don't know. We'll find out.

So... I try some other stuff.
1- I try to download and install the lastest InstallShield driver but that didn't work again.
2- I try to install it while I was on safe mode, didn't work either.
Well... That's it! So if you find any other idea post them please. (P.S. : To install it on a other computer and copy the directory won't work because of the register key)

Sorry I don't remember but just search in google for: (+"Installshield" +error), that's what I wrote and there's a site where they give the link for the lastest InstallShield drivers.

I found something but it's for HOMM3: http://www.savageforums.com/showthread.php?t=26025.
I tried what they say but it's not the same file (see the link) and I don't find the one who replace it. Maybe this won't work for HOMM4 but maybe so.....

Problem solved yet?
Else be sure 2 tell..
What OS (operation system, eg. Windows, lynux) do you have?
My guess would be, windows XP
In order to solve these kinds of problems on needs to eliminate a bunch of options. Luckily you already did a couple of things
I also read good (& nonsense.. or well: less good) advice
- Can u install other programs? (from cd-rom)
- What os has the other compu? (on which you installed to check CD-rom)
- Is it the original cd?? (or a copy)
- did you previously install Homm?
The advice given :
quote:
Get someone to install Heroes. Then get them to burn the Heroes folder eg. C:/Program Files/3DO/Heroes or whatever. Then copy that folder to your computer and if the problem was with install shield it should work. Beware i have not tested this yet!
does work but .. there needs to be done a little more than just the things mentioned above .. (registry settings & must be copied some other things aswell & on needs a special file)
Leme know & I 'll help you out

Ok i have tryed that burn heroes folder thing and it works. I didnt have to put anything into the regestry, but you may have to depending on your system. I dont have the regestry keys but it would be nice if someone posted them.

Try to install under Windows' Safe Mode. It's a proven solution to some cases.
