I would like to thank everyone who has posted their opinion about their favorite town!
It is clearly seen that there is a large cluster of Rampart supporters – I must say I like the town also but it ain’t my favorite. There are however some things that I would like to comment on.
GELU – There are two more troops which are faster than the
GOLD DRAGONS: The Arch Devil and The Archangel.
INCUBUS – I do not belief that Black Dragons are the most strongest after the Titans; I belief the archangels are the most powerful level 7 troop in the game.

Yes but the Archangels are not imune to speels so ...i don't know if they are the best, you can't decide

There have been many disputes on the subject of the strongest troop. Depending on the situation, Archangels, as well as B. Dragons and Titans can be considered strongest. However, if curiosity pushes you to experiment, you will find out that in equal quantities (10 Archangels vs. 10 B. Dragons\Titans) the Castle dwellers win but they are defeated by... Behemoths! And the Archdevils manage to defeat the Behemoths. Ask Zsa if you don't believe me!
And ZSA, Phoenixes are faster that Gold Dragons too.

Angels Rock.......BUT.....
Ever attacked lots of Ancient Behemoths with lots of ArchAngels?
((Yes, I was foolish enough to do such...LOL))
I think each lvl7 has its merits, but when a creature can knock out 80% of your defense on your lvl7, you are going to pay.....unless you take them out with magic and shooters. 
I also like the Choas Hydras.....if they can get the first hit on the AB's, they can hold their own (no retaliation).
But, two of my favorite troops would have to be the Dread Knights and the Mighty Gorgons. Both can have such a deadly attack, especially those Mighty's. Though everyone says the Fortress sucks, if you have time to get an army of Fortress creatures......ouch.
So which is my absolute favorite town (the original question for this post)......I think I may have said the Castle or Necropolis at one time or another. Yes, Necropolis can be weak, but with Thant to start and a little time to build......

The way I see it...
Ancient B's
Black D's
AA's
Titan's
Arch D's
Gold D's
Ghost D's
Phoenix
Chaos Hydra's
80% Defense reduction is huge. No question. 300 HP's also- only negative is 9 speed, but that is easily overcome most times.
Magic Resistance combined with 15 speed, and 300 Hp's.
Highest Att/Def, plus 2nd fastest speed- negatives no magic resistance, and only 250 HP.
Only ranged 7th level, and 300 HP's + highest potential damage no mind control spells. Negatives are slower speed and no magic resistance against lightening or implosion.
Speed of 17 and no retaliation- nagatives low HP's no magic resistance.
Decent speed, magic resistance level 4 and lower, but only 250 HP's and slightly lower att/def and damage than many 7th levels.
Weak attack, but nice special and decent speed, negative is low HP's and no magic resistance.
Fastest unit in the game, rebirth high growth #'s but individually weak with lowest HP's and att/def of any 7th level in game.
No retaliation, multiple attack- very slow! and only 250 HP makes Chaos Hydra the worst, mostly the slow speed, even hastened can't reach every creature. Not very high att/def either.

Actually Gold Dragons have guite good Attack and Defence (better than Black Dragon`s def and att).
Also Behemoths have really low def (making it more vulnerable)
You forgotted AA`s resurrection ability which makes it best creature in game, also strong fixed damage (50)
And one negative for both dragons: you can`t resurrect them.

Wow Peiper , you must really be a "SMART" one ; you have really illuminated me! If you didn't realize you are not the only one which has played with all the towns !
This is a topic about favourite towns -- I mean there must be a town (or more than one ) that you really enjoy playing more than the others (probably because of the atmosphere that that town creates , because of some specific troops , because of a hero , because of the general aspect , I don't know -- YOU TELL ME).

Fortress!
If there hadn't been Fortress in Heroes 3, it would have been a very boring game. It's Fortress that brings the atmosphere of the game. Yes, the mage guild is limited only to 3rd level, but that doesn't affect the game with this town. Defense is the most improved feature of Fortress - Glyphs of Fear, Cage of the Warlords, two rows of moat. Bron the Beastmaster is the only hero in the game that starts with a 4th level unit - Basilisk. About the units - Gnoll Marauders are 3rd in strength among the 1st level units; Lizard Warriors are not a good unit but a weak archer is better than no archers; Dragon Flies are fast and remove beneficial spells; Basilisks can petrify enemies; Mighty Gorgons are great - 50 of them can kill 2 Archangels because of their gaze; Chaos Hydras are slow but can attack all neighbouring creatures; and Wyvern Monarchs... are the greatest unit in the game! Maybe it's not the strongest town but it's the greatest!
By the way, Fortress isn't the weakest town. I made an experiment - all creatures from a town against all creatures from another one. The creatures were in the same numbers for all towns and the heroes had no skills. Every battle was automatic. Here are the rankings:
1-Tower
2-Castle
3-Inferno
4-Rampart
5-Dungeon
6-FORTRESS
7-Necropolis
8-Stronghold
9-Conflux

Your post about archangels vs Ancients behemots is wrong. Speed always wins if properly splitted(army). Besides this , archangels can ressurect the few "ones" who dies taking the retaliate making possible at least 3 full attacks before retaliate, not forgetting possible very high morale that they most often get.

Well , I must agree with Salamandre , the thing u just did doesn't proove a thing.
And Wyvern , I respect your opinion when you say that wyverns are the greatest units in the game , but I must say I don't like them at all. I mean... I don't hate them but I don't like them either .
There are many other units that I like more than the wyvern : War Unicorns , ArchAngels, Champions , ArchMagi , Master Genie , Devils , Efreets , Dragons , Vampire Lords etc.
