Multiplayer Issue IMPORTANT

Hello all,
I am having a problem connecting with a friend in HOMM IV gathering strom. We have same game version.
My friend is in a local intranet which goes out via a router(w/ firewall too).
The problem is that the system administrator won't allow acces via 4377 port.
However my friend has other open ports, such as CS, Warcraft ports.
Also it may be due to something with my machine, as I have disabled most "unuseful" services. Please if you know, specify some necessary service I might have been disabled.

Also note that my friend has a local ip (i.e. 192.168.3.x) and the router's ip (which is his real ip) is another one.

How should I connect to him?
Lots of thanx for potential solutions.
We have tried using other ports we knew were open (1080 MSN port , DC++ port etc.) with no result.

try the other way around..

1. Instead of him hosting, you host -> should work

2. Ask the admin to NAT the port to your friends PC (the admin should know what it is & how its done)

3. try to game on the local network, that way you are certain you guys can connect!

REM: the IP of the router/firewall is diff coz its a router
External vs Intenal IP adress
It doesnt make any diff if it is, as long as the game 'knows' where to find the host/joiner (e.g. trough NAT)

I assumed that I should host the game and it should work, but it doesn't.
However I suspect it might be due to the fact that i have disabled some of the services in XP (for RAM shortage purposes). Anyone knows if a particular service is required to make it work, so I don't have to enable them all to see if it works?
