No one likes number X? I think it has very good plot. The protagonist may be a bit idiot but at least he's realistic and not some fearless badass swordswinger who kills everybody one hit and doesn't even gasp.

I finally found all the equipments in FF12  except the mithril sword and mithril blade that I sold and can't buy again, and the genji helm that I failed to steal.

Number X is just fine, not a masterpiece IMO, but the story is indeed good. I can't say the same thing about X-2... well it's a good game but poor Final Fantasy 
BTW!
Why have they made the hairstyle of a male protagonist always look the same after VII?
Squall, Zidane, Tidus, Vaan... they all have the same "emo" hairstyle...

That's because with I - VI pixel art it was hard to create showy hairdos

I've played and beaten every Final Fantasy except FF2, FFX-2 and FF12, though I own all of them. I tried to play FF2 but didn't care for it. Haven't heard great things about FFX-2. And FF12 is on my list of games to play but I just haven't had a chance yet.
They're all classics. I still have a special love of the first one, though because it was actually difficult.

VII, X and - especially - VIII were incredibly easy, yet great.
VIII is so easy it's not even funny ;/
But I love them all anyway. Except FFXII maybe, idk, no real romance and weird battle system doesn't seem very appealing to me.

Well I just finished FFXII.
To be honest, I'm kind of torn by it. On some levels (notably, the battle system and the hunt minigame), I think it's among the best in the series, but on many others (the story), I think it's among the worst. Overall, I was a bit disappointed.
I'll give it a 7/10.

The thing about XII is, it has a great story - but horrible presentation. They could've paced it much better.

I would rate it 9/10 I think.
the main flaw is the luck required to get some items.
(such as grand helm, grand armour, zodiac spear, danjuro...)
still got them all (except the genji helm). the danjuro is one of my most used weapons, it's the best to quickly kill small monsters (less than 6000 HPs I would say). with celerity you can kill 2 - 3 monsters before any of them has a chance to attack.
against monsters having more HPs, but less than 9999, the zodiac spear is the best.
against monsters having over 9999 HPs, it is questionable. either the zodiac spear or the masamune + genji gloves. the masamune is weak, does around 4000 damage I would say, but has 68% to combo, so you may kill a tough foe quicker than with any other weapon if you are lucky.
against very weak monsters, I recommend the gastraphetes. it deals around 4000 damage. it's not as fast as the danjuro, but you don't need to run to them, so it may actually be quicker.
I was disappointed by omega mk XII btw. he was hard to find, but not so hard to beat, took me 20 min I think.
on the other hand yiazmat wasn't that easy, took around 8 hours, and I had to flee quite a lot because I often ran out of mana.

I love 10. I remember sleepless nights playing blitz ball. I love the chance to include NPC's in your BB team and customize their skills too.

I found Final Fantasy XII very enjoyable. The gameplay was great even though the looting and bazaar systems were confusing. The creature and esper designs were pretty neat and the setting was nice and colourful. The story gets alot of bashing, but I don't really see anything wrong with it. It had great characters, plot twists and strong themes.

it's quite a relaxing game also. don't know about the other FFs. but in FFXII you can just walk around, enjoying the beauty and the music.

Well you can have the best story in the world, but if it's not told well.... I agree that the story's theme was great, but the pacing was awful, the details confusing, and the characters flat and uninteresting.

In XII the story formula is, for almost the whole, this:
Go to this place to get something, then something happens when have to go to next place to get something and something happens there after which you have to go to next place etc.

I recently checked out the official site for Final Fantasy 13 and I must confess that I'm getting a bit cynical. The game does seem to have promise. I liked the combat system in 12 and it seems that in 13 it's a bit like that with some new innovations thrown into the mix. Their production values are off the charts (my charts suck  ) and it appears as if the voiceacting does not make me want to puke.
They seem to be promising to come up with a whole lot of drama, accentuated with with music by apparently very big name artists; I don't know who, but yeah. Marketing, people! Marketing!
The story would appear to be filled with themes of racism and somekind of a cyberpunk allegory to world war II Germany... I'm just not feeling it baby!
Oh yeah! They also got some Snow in the main cast. I appreciate that this Snow has a hint of beard so that we are able to tell whether it's a man or a woman.

I wasn't blown away, but it's not like I cringe everytime I see the lady. She's pretty enough. To each his own.

She's nowhere near Yuna's level. (FFX Yuna. Let's all pretend FFX-2 never existed.) 
But the game looks fun... FFXIII, I mean. Too bad PS3 is ungodly expensive and I won't play it for next couple years. Oh well.
