Help Me Choose
Hi.
I'm new here, but your site came up quite a few times on Google whilst I was searching for reviews.
I played Heroes 3 (Erathia) a lot Hot Seat, and although I am no expert I do know how to play the game.
I've got a bit bored with overplaying it, and I want to buy another Heroes game.
I need to choose. I believe Heroes 5 is not coming out for a while, so it seems like its between a Heroes 3 expansion pack and Heroes 4.
As I said earlier, my main interest lies in playing it Hotseat, although I do look into online multiplayer every now and then.
I have gathered that Heroes 4 is quite rare, but if it is worth it I will try and get it.
Could you advise me whether to get an expansion for 3, or 4 instead?

Bleah...
H4 isn't all that great. It can be entertaining I guess, but H3 is waaay better. Go for the expansion.

I prefer H4 cuz the fight system is better, and skill system
But H4 don't have hotseat time limit, and this is necessary to play multiplayer
I would choose H4, but only playing you will discover if H4 is better, or worse than H3
Try H4, if you don't like, sell it and buy H3 expansion pack ;D

lol, heroes 4 ofcourse... all u get in a expansion is a few creatures and campaigns max.. nothing new.. heroes 4 Is the best game out there.. ive played it for 2 eyars, and havent bored at all. Some people say it sucks, but I think, its the most balanced, exiting, and coolest game on the market.

It gotta be heroes4. The best game ever...well heroes3 holds the second place but if u wanna really enjoy then come in to gamespy to heroes 4 room

Ok thanks, I think I will get 4. Does anyone know any places where you can get it for something not too extortionate (other than Ebay and Amazon)?

Well, I got my german version of H4 (i had a uk one but I could not get addons for it -.-) here at HC - Angelito sold me his  maybe u find someone who wants to sell it, too? It's worth a shot imo

HoMM3 RULLZ, only my opinion... Try to borrow HoMM4 and the EXPansions from a friend... You should try both... For the sake of WoG and Equilibris. H3Complete(roe, ab, sod) is gonna be less than 10Euro...

Get H3 expansions. Everyone out there knows that H3 is better. Only reason there are so many people here saying "h4 Rulz!" is because this thread is in a h4 forum. The Majority knows that H3 is way better.
Go with H3

Never tried H4 and don't intend to. Go for H3, because it's just that good.

Don't listen to those H3'ers 
Play H4 it is way more exiciting than H3 for my opinion.
I have played now 1 year online and it has been great time.

Everyone that knows something about Heroes, knows that Heroes 3 is the clear winner. H4 might seem all cool at first because of the graphics and skills, but its much, much worse than 3. H3 is a great, very well balanced game.
H4 has no upgrades, the castles produce too less gold and too few creature types. There are many other things, but those were some of my opinions. Some things in it are, for sure, much better, but H3 is much better. I played H4 for 12 hours and I started to feel like... hm.. bored. Thank god I didnīt buy it! H3 is entertaining, and Iīve had it for 5 years. Iīve not gotten bored even now!! H3 is a great game and beats number 4 easily!

Expansions, of course, aren't that much different than originals, so if you are really OVERbored with HOMM III, you should try HOMM IV, which is somehow different. But if you want to save money, expansions are way to go.

From my actual pov I would say H3 SoD - cuz then u can play WoG and that is veeery great!

I have bought Heroes 4, and am trying it out - I know that Heroes 3 was a very balanced game, but I haven't had time to discover if 4 is similar. If it turns out to be too bad, I can always sell it on Ebay.
Anyone got any other reasons why Heroes 3/4 is better? I'd be really interested to hear what y'all think.

Very well.. *cough*Eagle eye, Learning, Scholar skills, unbalanced towns, like Castle, Rampart, Stronghold, stupid heroes like Tazar, Crag Hack*cough* Seems not so well balanced, is it ?

No upgrades (personal taste) I prefer H2 system, add to 4 choosing btw and you get a random choose/upgrade system. Two few... H3 had 7 creatures/town, H4 has 8 creatures/town. Getting bored is also each person's personal opinion, H3 is way too boring for me. I play H4 most of the time. conbined with Equilibris balance mod it is the game it should have been, if it weren't rushed for some 3do money need.
