TOH Divisions - Finalizing for Homm4

-continuation from the TOH homm4 Divisions topic.

This will take a while, but about 1/4 of the division 'world map' is completed.  An example of this can be found on http://www.toheroes.com/divmap.jpg
I have been creating this world map via satelite imagery & hand drawing to develop an 'imaginary' land with a real look and feel to it.

Essentially like lords, there will be up to 100 lands/countries to take over in this 'world', each representing 'a division campaign' or badge.  Each division member in the winning campaign gets that badge or icon on their rankings and prestige.  Division members will still get bonus points for a division campaign victory, but the point # hasnt been determined yet.  Any suggestions?  Stay at 50 pts?

Each land that is won will have one 'artifact' that will represent it.  Therefore there is NO minimum wins and such for an artifact to be won.  When you win the campaign, the division team wins the land, and the artifact.  This will mean, however, that there will be no individual player who will 'acquire' the artifact, or have it on their ranking/prestige.

Also, the artifact attribute gained can be used only once per campaign, not per round.

Each land will have a distinct 'artifact'. Hence, when you win a land, you also gain that artifacts' properties. Lose the land, you lose the art.

You do not fight for owned land, but for a new one each time. Once all lands are occupied (there will be about 100, so need about 100 unique division campaigns to end a divisions season), the division with the most lands essentially wins the division 'finals'. This will also promote the most active divisions, not necessarily the strongest, since the more you play the more chances at taking a landmass.

This can even go further, where division lords or overlords can compete against each other for complete ownership of the 'world' beyond divisions. This also means there will be several player profile attribues available/added to the selection of land ownership skills.

I ask that players give their recommendations and questions below, for this part of homm4 TOH will be completed with rules and variables by mid-august on the homm4 site.

Well I think that the pt total for winning a campaign should be on a sliding scale, based on what % of the war was completed.

i.e.  if only 60% of the war is completed for the win then award 25pts.  If 75% completed then award 50pts.  If 100% ( all matches played everyround) is played then give 75pts

This will also promote activity.  That was the one thing I didnt like about divisons this season is divisions getting a win and pts for only playing 6 total matches the entire war.  hardly earned anything.

Also there NEEDS to be a penalty system set up for any players that forfiet.  I would recommend that not only they lose there divison bonus for winning but they should take a 25pt penalty hit to there rankings points.  It should be very highly stated that ACTIVE players only if you arent going to be free to play your games then dont join.  I would rather see 6 STRONG 100% active divisons then 20 divisions with only 40% activity in each.

It sounds very interesting with the land mass Ves, and Jinxers idea with the sliding scale for points is great aswell.
But it might be abit unfair if u get penalized for forefeits, at least the first time u do it.
I just had my first one ever, but that was because I was in the process of moving, and couldnt get my internet back up running. Off course I wont make a habit of doing it, but sometimes u just cant help it.
And great thing with the arties, makes it alot more interesting with the arties when u can only use them once during a campaign. Makes the captains job harder.

Well...

The Lords campaigns were always most interesting to me. I missed on the first one because of joining the military and being in basic training at the time it started, and I missed the 2nd one because I was being sent all different military schools at the time and didn't play H3 for about 1 year or a little longer than that even. The idea of fighting for a land is nice- I'm not as sure about eh artifacts attatched to the special properties, but it's hard to make a choice one way or another before H4 comes out about what kind of things the lands should be based on. I just hope I never see relic type artifacts. Major ones should be the most, but I think other types of specials should be included. If it were H3 for instance, a land in the swamps lets defender be Fortress if they so choose with added unit bonos or something on a map that is mostly swamp lands. Or perhaps lands in the populated centers of maps or certain provinces let the defender start with more than one town, but if two bordering countries attack at the same time, make it an FFA game with defender two towns, against 1 attacking town each or something. Have to wait and see how easy H4 editor is and what other surprises there are, system might be changed enough to not comprehend from viewpoint of H3.

Responsibility

The divisions system is good (10 players, captain vs captain, deadlines ) so far and it will be great in next season (after mixing it with the Loards of Erathia Tournament). But people should take their divisions game more serious in the future. Five players from the opponent division are not able to answer since 2 weeks the mails of my recruits, division captain included...  And the other captain I have to deal with probably also has my on his ignore list. It makes me sick.
I suggest a  player wich makes two forefits could get -20 pts, tree forefits - 50, four forefits - 100 and something like a baby icon wich should mean he’s not a serious players.
And  he couldn’t join a division or a clan till the end of season. Mayby then such a perosn would think twice if he wants to be in a division for sure

To let more games be played it should also be a possibility to reschedule games during a campaign round.

Actually, I was thinking some more about what to include instead of an artifact for certain lands- why not make some lands with gold mines for example- so if you control a land with gold mines then in any game you play you get 3,000 gold day 7 of each week or something like that. Could be resources also. Or if you own a forest land then if you play Haven you get extra creatures, but only if you play Haven in all your games etc. Why not trade routes also? So let's say there are two lands on opposite ends of the Lords map or far away at least, so if you own 1 land you get 2,000 gold 7th day each week in all your games, but if you own both lands, you get 4,000 gold. Make something so that there is also a strategic element on the map more then just invasion routes to control different lands. It also makes the stronger players fight over the same lands more often and lets some of the lesser divisions and players come into the campagns and at least hold onto one land more than losing any land they get right away.

I just don't like artifacts idea as much since the artifacts are unique and unless you make two lands with the same artifact it's hard to say how strong artifacts in H4 will be, it just seems not the best way to go for me. Maybe some heirloom artifacts or kingdom artifacts would be interesting, say you controled 5 lands that make up a certain kingdom you get a nice staff of crown or something only as long as you protect your kingdom having to eitehr hold all 5 lands all times or if you lose 1 province you can attack it right away and if you gain it back still retain your artifact otherwise it's gone.

Just some ideas, somre more things too to make it more interesting in a little bit.
