Heroes V Engine
From
http://www.techimo.com/forum/t124708.html
Quote: Rumours and conjectures concerning a new sequel of Heroes have been soaring in the internet for a long time, we have managed to obtain latest information on this project from a reliable but secret source. It is necessary to say that we are drawing many conclusions ourselves on the basis of known facts, but they are obvious: the project Heroes of Might and Magic V is alive! And not simply alive, its work is going on by all means. The company Ubisoft is not in a hurry to announce the developer of the game officially, but according to information from network forums this team of developers is from Russia, moreover, all shows it is a best Russian games developer - Nival! What it means? To all appearances, the basis of new Heroes will be powerful game engine from Silent Storm (recently released step-by-step tactics of second world war). It seems work on Heroes has been conducted since this winter (that is about half a year), provided game engine is ready, it means we shall see the game approximately in one year (by autumn 2005). We also knew that there would be built-in editor of maps in the game, it is not clear if it will be simple in use (as game engine is completely 3D). And to all appearances 5-th part will resemble Heroes 3 to a great extent, it means the publisher and developer decided to follow wishes of players. We shall see what we shall see. Most likely announcement of new Heroes will be timed to one of European autumn expositions.
Looks like it will use the Silence Storm Engine http://www.nival.com/silentstorm/ and will be more like H3.
Cool!

Are those conclusions really worth something?

...and where are the known facts? So far the only available information is based only in some artwork. The rest is only speculation.

The facts are here. That info comes from the producer himself (Fabrice). He never made any reference to Nival, Silent Storm or an announcement at an European show. Since the speculations are quite old (January?), I wouldn't really call them news.

When I said "speculation" I meant there is no real image from the game yet. And the news are from July.

Sounds pretty far-fetched to me. Although the text descriptions of Silent Storm make it sound similar to Heroes, looking at the screenshots of the game tell a different story. Silent Storm's not very similar to what I expect the Heroes 5 engine to be capable of. The Silent Storm engine looks like it is designed for closeups of a few number of actors, Heroes engine I imagine would be tuned for panoramics with a different number of actors. Probably higher poly less animation.

i dont believe that the russians should get that much credit (sorry not meaning to be rude to russians) becouse russia dosnt have a good enough company. now if i saw these pics i would believe all this entirely. however this WWI thing is almost definatly lies (or was it WWII). anyway i would love to see this game out sooner than a year from now. all i have for now.
I hope somone will replie to me very very soon

I found a thread in Nival's forum with the same rumour.
There is no official confirmation though...
You can read more (about nothing ) here.
