Should heroes be allowed to ally?
What would be cool is if heroes, and thier castles could join forces. Only 1 group (e.g. tower or necromancer) can ally with another, and they could by spells and units off each other. This would allow for a new structure, a port or something, where any units u dont want could be put for sale and bought by your ally. This would also allow for a more interactive single and multiplayer experience. What do you think?

I would be a nice idea, being able to actually sell and exchange creatures/artifacts with your ally for a change.

A player can have more than one Hero in an army in HoMM IV. So what is the new thing you want to be able to do?
I believe you can already donate units to an ally in HoMM III (During Hero trading; as long as you don't exceed the maximum number of stacks in an army.) This feature may be kept in HoMM IV.
Did you mean that a player should be able to attack an enemy by combining more than one army?
A possibility to sell and buy creatures may be a good idea. It might be interesting if all players are offered to buy the creatures that are sold. This may also be an idea for artifact merchants. Any artifacts sold could be offered up for sale on the 'open' market.

In my ignorance I'm leaning toward, no. When the game comes out I may feel completely different.
Someone mentioned earlier about doing a "Lodr of the Rings" type senario which sound interesting.
It may not affect me too much anyway depending on the AI since I don't do a lot of online gaming. I would think that this would also hinder the characters advancments since the experience should be split.

NO!
NO!
Why would they need to ally? If you want to be on the same team, make it that way when you make the map. Why would you decide to ally during the fight?
You could always just un-ally later and kill of your ally.
It would just be easier to choose to ally with your buddies when you play, and not tell the other players. It would be the same thing. The only difference is that you couldn't ally with the computer, and the computer is a whiney ally when you play on the same team. "I need gold, here is some dirt for you."

Id love to be able to have 2v2 fights in an actual battle. First of you combine your strongest units to make 1 army and then fight the enemy as one. Combat could easily work with people sharing using only there own troops that they brought to the battle. Maybe this sort of close alliance could only happen when you choose to allied town types.
It would sure make combat even more exciting, you could even be able to communicate with your partner in combat discuss your battle plans and so on. Of course all rules of normal combat would be used. So come on ive said my piece now its your turn to moan about this idea, dont hold back feel free to let rip.

More Dynamic Diplomacy
It would be a great improvement for me if there was a "kingdom diplomacy" system (not necessarily linked to the Diplomacy Skill). I mean, a way to make and break alliances during the game allowing two or three lesser factions unite to stop the outnumbering enemy:
- Alignment will be an important faction when making alliances: factions with a majority of opposite towns (Necropolis-Castle, etc.) will propose alliances only in a desperate need of help in order to propose alliances, but same alignment factions (rampart-castle-tower) will be potential allies.
- HOMM3 allies are very static and useless. In HOMM4 you should be able to trade with your allies (resources, creatures, artifacts). I mean trade, no offer gifts. "Purple offers you 10 Black Knigths in exchange of 40 crystal..." etc.
- A more advanced form of alliance could be the presence of an ambassador, asking you for explicit tasks: "My king offers you 100.000 gold pieces if you bring me the head of Hero XXX". Achieving these tasks (like quests) will produce a stronger alliance and maybe increase gold income by "commercial treatments".
This way you could better balance unbalanced maps, cos the CPU lesser factions will be willing to make an alliance, and there will always be those critical decisions when you are growing in strength and decide to crossover your ally before he chooses to betrayal you... :-)
Of course, a 2vs2 battle (two allied vs. two enemies) will be such a dream for me, but perhaps this is very difficult to implement into the battle engine.

That, my friend, is the most brilliant thing I have heard in weeks.
