Zone games

I have been playing online now for about a month and have learned quite a bit from the games and this forum.  A couple things I have noticed about playing on the zone: Getting a good game sometimes takes forever!!  Either you have to be a "Native", TOH 1700+, WW Master, Magic Master, etc.  I am definitely none of the above.  I did register at TOH, but I am new. I have noticed that the few games I do get that are "fun", I end up with someone that will quit after playing 4 hours, or will set up rules (ie, no 4-5 lvl scrolls) and he ends up imploding me in the final battle with an implosion scroll he picked up.  I have met a few people on the zone that are great gamers and play the game, win or lose all the way through... but more often than not, this is not the case.

Is there something I can do (maybe a message I could put in the game room) that will get people that are somewhat serious about a good game to join?  Again, I am new, but really like the game and want to learn.  I don't quit on people, so if Im not a challenge to someone, they will at least get a full game out of it.

The problem about those "quitters" is known and very sad, but there is not much u can do against.
One thing u can do is, only to play against guys with 1400+ TOH-points for example..

A hint from me to you would be, to register for the second big tourney on the zone, for WW
There you can play "regular" games like in TOH, but there do exist some subtourneys as well (like "natives", "might master", "magic master"...and so on..) which u only have to register for, then u will find some more opponents i guess..

Problem is, on both big tourneys (TOH and WW) there are the "finals" of their biggest subtourneys right now (TOH = Ceasar, WW = tribes) and when they are finished, the new season will open soon, so there will be played much more games than in the moment.

PS:
And u can tell us your "zone-nick" here, so all the gamers who read here in HC can remember you when being on the zone and probably playing a game with you..

Thank you for the tip.  I don't mind seeking out the better players, but don't want to be a "waste of time" to them as I am not that great and may not give them a good match.  I will register for WW and see what happens.  I think I go through this forum 3 times a day looking at all of the great info posted and try to apply to my game.

My toh handle is LKru33, just like my name here... and will be the same name for WW. My first day in the zone, I couldn't get connected for whatever reason and you got me started.  I remember one thing you said... "dude, you gotta get rid of some of those maps".. I was a single player fanatic and had over 300+ maps... lol.  Now I am down to maybe 4 maps (downloaded from toh) and am currently using different random templates from toh to play online (latest one being Jebus cross).

Cool

You will surely find some guys in the zone who will play a good random on jebus 1vs1 or 2vs2...keep asking..

Hi LK,
I'm not a master of H3 or anywhere near that. I don't have much time to play, but I'm sometimes on during the week-end. I play honorably all the time, but I prefer no rules. I will not quite, but if I have to leave (family issues), I'll tell you to save and then pick up the game later. I do this because I don't normally have 5 hours straight to spend online.

In any case, I too am looking for people like you.

Hope to play against you soon.

My nick in TOH and WW and on the zone is Conan_Undead (or sometimes Conan the Undead - any combination...)

Hi Conan
I will definitely look for you online.  I am also on mostly on the weekends (sometimes Wednesdays) due to the gf taking up much time for rest of the week.  I will play by any rules or no rules... Im very flexible as long as I can get in a good game.  I have met 1 person online so far that I have saved games and continued the next day or next week and it worked out fine

I just realized that toh handle doesn't mean zone name... My zone name is also LKru33  I am from Michigan (USA) EST.  (Just in case of any time difference)

Nice work on the Library btw.

I think I read somewhere in one of the posts about someone who played you to learn a thing or two... was describing week 1 as: build marketplace, wait, wait, wait... Week 2: In panic, fingers are froze, time ran out on his turn, wait wait wait... Week 3: Day 1 you came barging in his land with 30-25-19-20  and he had cardiac arrest!!  Well, maybe it wasn't like that exactly, but pretty close  If I am going to get better, I will have to learn from the best... but wow...I would have to keep my eyes closed during battle.

Lool Angelito, you build quite a reputation with that game with Jebus! I thought i was the only one puzzeled about it.
@LKru33: Don't worry man, it can be done, even by a nOOb(like me )! All it takes is some practice! After Angelito shared his game to the Community my first reaction was something like: "Get out of here!!", i just couldn't belive it and asked for detailed explanations in several occasions(boy i was annoying ).He took the time and detailed each step.So i tried it myself;obviously i didn't do it the first time, but in a short while it seemed quite easy.
Playing on Jebus Cross is like a race(IMHO) and the one that crosses the finish line(break into the middle area) first usually wins.Still you can also lose if you waste too much army on those guards Or if you have bad luck!
So try it yourself(just the first 2-3 weeks of the game) and you'll see!
@edit:My zone nick is tigris_afa i'm usually there during the week-ends too, maybe we'll meet!

This could be a very bad idea. Many of those like their points too much and will quit the game if they feel they are losing. TOH honor points have nothing to do with it. There are tons of a-holes and quitters with high honor and many good players with bad honor who got it simply because someone they played didn't like reporting a loss.
Best way I guess is to find the known non-quitters and play them.
And when someone with 1500 TOH rating and 19:0 win/loss ratio pms you saying "play TOH?" tell them to f*** off. You'll get anything BUT the fun game.

LOL... thanks for resurrecting this thread Russ  One of my first threads after joining the zone.

I kind of have a feel for who the known players are now.  I guess the best way was by going to the zone often and see who is there.  After a while the names become familiar. Sometimes you get bad luck on who you play, but then you can add that person to your blacklist and move on.  Other zone friends will often tip you off to who is questionable if they see you going into a game with someone that has a bad reputation.

Funny now, seems some of the games I have the most fun playing are those with toh ratings of 1700+... sure I get my butt handed to me, but games are always fair and I feel like I learn a lot.  Russ, thanks for the Necro lesson... I will be sure not to let the cat walk on my keyboard before upgrading my vampires Just watch out for those Storm Elementals... they are not Vampire friendly  Maretti, thanks for crushing me game after game, then pick me back up and tell me how good I play

Resurrecting? I just realized it is like 5 months old, lol. I saw this thread come up on top left corner, so I assumed it must have been the new thread, lol. Come to think of it: if it is 5 months old and not particularly important, then why did it come up?
And I attacked those storms because amm... my mouse slipped so I ended up attacking them before I could replace vamps with skeletons Kinda like ur mouse must have slipped when u hired and lost your non-upgraded vamps

I hate it when my mouse double clicks unintentionally.  Actually, didn't I summon "black cat" and it walked across your keyboard?
