Releasing an XL Heroes 3 AB map. Does anyone want me to post it?

I don't know if Heroes3 AB is completely over and done with for most of you, but if there are any players left post a reply so i know it'll be worth posting, otherwise it'll be for me and several friends only.  And for the record I look down at most homemade maps out there it seems about 90% of the maps I’ve found online have been crap.  I've made a pack of maps, the only ones people might recognize is the Land of Utag (XL) or King Estayer's End (L)… both are of slightly lower quality then this one.

This one has 4 human spots (Fairly unbalanced), two relatively powerful computer opponents and two bloody massive opponents.  If you last long enough on this one you’ll be wandering with huge armies.

Please tell me what you all think.
(Perhaps some screenshots would create more of a response)

Here's a little shot to see the level of detail on this map.

hehe

I checked your detail, but didn't really understood the point of that. It's just a portion of the map with one castle, a Topia, bunch of resources, a trading post and some arties.

I'd be interested to play your map, but i don't think there is an uploading possibility for that format(*.h3m) to htis site(at least not yet).
If you want too, you can send me a copy via e-mail(you can see mine in my profile) and i promiss i'll play it and make a review in a thread in this forum.
Hope i hear from you soon!

Fair enough Haregar,

The story for this map is fairly light, little bits here and there.  Useful rumors and timed information.  The goal of this map was to create a map in which you could have 4+ very different games each time it is played.  The best XL maps i've played have been all far to linear, and i just couldn't see making one like that.

Story as it stands...

1500 years ago a bright, powerful and wise hero managed to cage the two most vicious and deadly heroes of all time into a pandoras box.  He then took the box to the caves of Shno and began travelling deeper and deeper into the under realm.   He left the box so deep in world he suspected no one would ever free them.

Now, 1500 years later these two heroes have regained enough power to begin new subterranian empires which have caused earthquakes, whirlpools and volcanoes to spring out over the regularly peaceful overworld.  The world seems to be crumbling all around the over worlders and they desperately require a hero to lead the most powerful army ever conceived against the exiled under realm lords.

...The story in the game is not so straight forward, though over time you'd be given that much and more information.

Question to any map guru's out there...  Have you ever let the event on the water bug change the way you've made maps?

Bug: If an event trigger causes a player to battle in water while flying or water walking, it causes heroes3 to crash.

I've had one person play a fairly out dated beta almost all the way through, they had started out red -- and defeated the main Teal hero who was wandering with 15 Azure's and 80 Black Dragons with stats at the capped 100/100/100/100!  She said the only reason she won was she got away with Blinding the black dragons?  (Can this be true?)

I think the later version, opponents will have more creatures and prolly sit in the 70/80s for stats for longer.

If you haven't tested this one out, hold off 2 more days for the beta18.   It is a very nearly complete version.  Story/Map Design done.  Just needing a few little touch ups and some input.  The story has increased much since reading Haregars comments.

Anyone going to try this baddie out when its finished?

I think that girlie tester you had will soon grow a big Pinocchio nose.First the stats only go as high as 99 each. so 100 it's impossible.Casting blind on blackies is possible only with the blck orb(orb of vulnerability) on.The computer never reached those stats before, at least not for me unless those were set by default in the map editor. What stats did the Teal main hero started?
I started playing your template with blue, but found Angel wings near the castle guarded by pack wiverns(i have the exact coordinates, but will write that in the review).Don't make important artifacts random(angel wings is art 4).Having those doesn't make playing with blue that imposible anymore does it?

Anyway i started again with red and am already month 2 week 1. i'll let you know when i finish. If you want you can send me that new beta too.
Some preliminary observations:after you finish the map check one again the passability. So far i found but some res piles that were unreacheble. Some of the pandora boxes are empty.Did you meant them to be that way or did you forgot to edit the treasure?

Waiting on your new beta. The map is IMO very complex and well calculated, especially being your first map.Keep it coming!

First of all thank you so much Tigris for taking the time to play and mention these things to me.   And here is a link to the most up to date version.

http://www3.telus.net/public/a7a74521/Overworld (b1).h3m

Its very near complete - i just need a few people to play it start to finish and tell me problems and concerns they came across. As for the girlie who was helping test the older version, she confessed that the heroes were at 99's and that she thought i'd know thats where the heroes max.
I'd like to say the map is looking pretty good, lots of little story elements and events hidden about.   I removed about 40 less exciting events and have been to place more story based events.  I've also removed DD from any of the initial castles.  And have removed angel wings, spellbinders hat, tome of air, and armaggedon's blade from the randomly placed artifacts list.  So you shouldn't just stumble across them t'ill you can defeat a legion or so of large creatures.  The somewhat hard to get resources, were placed around the map - and require fly to get them.  There is also only a few places left where DD or fly allows the hero to skip a battle and loot the artifacts.

Overall, things are looking good.

Test it out folks, or take a look at it in the editor and make some judgements.   Talk t'ya soon.

Thanks Devareaux thee Tavern Dweller,

Hold off on spreading this one to your friends till i finish er off.  Should be soon.  At this point i'm almost out of things to place, won't allow anymore resource structures, creature dwelling or events.  So all i really wanna do is rename the map, balance the baddy heroes that you'll battle in the later months and develope the story here and there.

Oh Haregar, the story is coming along, but i'd like to hear your suggestions (You willing to take another look?)

Here we go, this is the release, if I get a list of over 20 things that need fixing from other people I will release a version 1.1 with everything fixed and an added 20 days worth of story.  Otherwise I hope you all enjoy this, it should prove to be a fun time for anyone who invests enough time to finish it.

Download it from:
http://www3.telus.net/public/a7a74521/Kurgadako.h3m

If you would like it emailed, just post your email address.

The maps brief little blurp:

The land of Kurgadako has been at peace for centuries, lead by the peaceful Rampart Ningham in the Eastern Province.  Over the past several years many heroes have been searching the Caves of Shno in order to discover more about Kurgadako’s past.  Only small bits of knowledge remain in the libraries regarding societies past, longer than 1,500 years ago and all the information hints towards an incredibly dark time.  When the land burned with hatred and fear and it was ruthlessly controlled by a pair of evil heroes.
Recently in the Caves of Shno someone traversed down deep in to Mazurk a place which has been hidden away for centuries.  There they awoke one warlock and one heretic, these two heroes had been caged in a pandora’s box since the dark ages.  Now awakened they’ve begun to forge an army the likes of which no Kurgadian can fathom and whilst they gather troops they continue to wreak havoc on Kurgadako by means of massive geological disasters.

There is much to explorer, and many very large battles to be had, good luck to all those who take part in the battle of Kurgadako.

* I am aware i've posted to much under this topic, hopefully it won't happen again.  Though I could have done a more streamlined job of it, if I were allowed to edit posts. (once posted)

*sidenote, i just posted it for playtesting but i seem to have placed it in a HOMM4 area.  Is it possible to switch over?  is there even a HOMM3 playtesting area?

Thanks again Tigris, you rock.

Greetings all you mighty Heroes,

I've begun work on a second XL map for 2005, which is odd because normally after I build an XL map, I’m done with heroes for about 12 months but this time…   Its on.

The maps name is Ugashi and there is a brief explanation of how the map will be setup above in this thread.   I’ve finished most of the terrain at this point and I’m about to start adding all the artifacts and writing the quests.  (This map houses about 50+ seers’ huts)  If anyone here has played Kurgadako’s Apocalypse I’d love to hear your thoughts now as I build all the inner workings of this next map.   Tigris this time I will try to keep the rewards more balanced (Those throngs of mighty gorgons to receive 15 gems was absurd).

If any of you would like to take a quick look:

This upper world looks like:

Post if you want concepts, ideas, artifacts, heroes, castles or anything added/removed.
