Khayman, ok now i can see where your coming from. But i do believe the instances are different. Ok, say you are right, how many people do you know are WILLING to leave their own families and life behind to help people you don't even know in the third world? Would you?
Say you had a wife whom was unable to work for some reason, and a elderly parent to take care of, along with two kids. Would you leave that to go work in the third world, or write a check for $100 dollars, which can be used to help build a school, or hire a teacher, or build houses.
I'll elaborate more on my point of view when I have more time.

I believe if you take another look at my original post, then these question can already be answered. Please take another look:Quote:

I accept society as it is. What it isnt, is a Hollywood movie where you get to paint the benches so that smiley faces in US can play and laugh the next day. Or acting like freaking Angelina Jolie and going to Cambodia to make pottery in the villages. Sure, looks heartbreakening for the flashlights, but with her cash she can buy two factories for pottery and supply the whole region with those. 
Honestly Khayman, I think we’re leading this discussion the worng way. You’re perfectly right on the point that it’s much more fulfilling and self-discovering experience to go there and do it yourself. It can really change your life forever. But to those people in dire need out there, they don’t care if its Khayman from HC who does the job or a professional team paid by him. Do you see what I’m getting at? In the end of the day, it’s imortant which method saves more lives. On the other hand, if you come from a rich country, volunteering is above all a personal journey. If you come from a poor country, such as Macedonia, volunteering can mean a lot more for people here, because there arent many people who care about specific target groups (Roma, refugees, homeless people).
Also, what you are right about is the way we measure out time in money. That’s part of the alienation of man from himself. We think we can buy our time with our kids, or buy our elderly parents the attention they need, or buy ourselves a visit to the psychiatrist when we need someone to listen to us. Well you cant.

In all seriousness, Svarog, I agree with almost everything you just said. Life is not a Hollywood movie, not at all. It is sad how people have become enslaved by the almighty [insert your favorite imperialistic country's currency here]. It is hard to understand when we are so young and raised upon capitalistic values and ideals, but sooner-or-later we all learn the fact that time is truly 'priceless'.
By the way, you are still my hero!
