Well yes some of that stuff sounds like It could be used but not entirly along those lines. Not to insult your ideas but some of that sounds some what like Harry Potter and the last idea sounds as though it came from the movie 'The Time Machine'.

the time machine remark was a joke
well u could turn the great sorcerer into many things. he could be a normal/average sorcerer who is trying to become a great sorcerer but cant so he seeks out the book to become great
or an unskilled sorcerer who is failing classes or is becoming weaker in skill. his family all think that he was, is and always will be a falure. he seeks out the book to prove them wrong
he could again be an average sorcerer who is now some scholar guy. he seeks power and hears of this book that is found. he want to use it to gain power
there are so many posibilities
i will eagerly await the first chapter ____________

Actually THOSE ideas seem to be very useful I may just use then, thankyou. I will try to bring you the first chapter asap be it may take from a few day to a week depending on my time allocation and idea processing.
