I must have overseen the balance part in patch notes (my bad). If that is one of the reasons upgrades are there I guess its one more thing that approves having them in the first place. But still, i think majority of players would like to have only logical upgrades (even though they may unbalance things). It IS fun this way, but that fun doesnt lasts long and starts to annoy after some time. (But theres always a chance that im wrong and that im the only one that thinks this way )

PS. Even though my tone seems to be quite negative, it doesnt change a fact that I actualy LIKED the patch and its ideas. .. Its great work Kamil, just keep it up

Hi,

AcidDragon I have a question for you,

Say the Night Elf town is completed and someone installed it. If that person already had your patch, I suppose that he would get a Santa Gremlin for Coutle's third level and Gold Golem for Rhyno's third level, yes?

How can that be solved?

I'm afraid it CANNOT be solved at least until the planned 3.59 possibilities. You'll just have to add a note that the two patches aren't compatible with each other. I already specified that my patch isn't compatible with the 'neutral town' script partly because of similar reasons and my script turnes it off automatically. In the future, when your patch is 100% ready I may add new rules for the Tower town in the 'New Upgrades' to block the upgrades possibilities there or to modify them if your patch is also installed and enabled.

Well, it WASN'T specified that way, however even on the New Upgrades main page you can see:
Quote:
This patch has one main goal - to give every town 3 new creature upgrades (...).

and this explains a bit that I didn't want some towns to have 2 upgrades, some 3 or even 4 and some only 1, in a similar way to what it is when you enable the 'extended upgrades' option (in the original 3.58 WoG version), which I found quite unballanced and with little 'fun factor'.

I hate that name :-P. I also hate it when somebody gets to know it and uses it in the virtual world. But thanks for all the other words ;-).

I guess that's because of the Chortos-2's server parameters, but please bare in mind that if it wasn't for Chortos-2 in the first place, there would probably be NO download, as it used up a lot of bandwidth.

Well, I think it's not because of the server... It's located in Europe, and hasn't very good internet speed...

finally got it!

The upgraded Medusa is a one-hex creature, while the graphics show it actually has two hexes (just like old versions)... Not a bug, but it's easy to forget in the middle of a fight... Especially tricky with breath attack!

The Blood Dragon adventure map picture is way too small... I've never understood why larger creatures have such small graphics... It's not your fault, though. Just take a look at the Nomad, who is twice as small as the Peasent...

These are minor flaws, of course. The patch is excellent and I've been enjoying it a lot!

About the map sprites - I suppose you're right , but then again - as you mentioned it's nothing new to HoMM. And besides - the map sprites are only a kind of a symbol. Even if the dragon was twice as big as a halfing then it still wouldn't reflect the enomous difference.

Though about the medusa empress - I'm pretty sure that by default it is two-hexed. You may have used another patch with a different exe file or a custom script.....

Perhaps, but it would look nicer.

Seriously though, I do understand the sprites are just symbols (e.g. heroes too big for towns, but smaller than artifacts! ). Although things have changed slightly in Heroes 3... Like I've already written elsewhere, in Heroes 2 the adventure map was exactly that - a map. However, in the next sequel we got all those rocks, flowers and trees... And the adventure map became a world. The designer went even further in Heroes 4 and enabled mapmakers to create almost realistic landscapes (with a fantasy feeling, of course).

Nevertheless, there is no reason to make the creature sprites at least the same size. Again, a Peasent looks like a giant compared to an itty-bitty Dragon. My wish is to have mighty Dragons and Titans...

Actually, I have no idea - I've just downloaded your patch from the old link...

Out of all the standard H3 creatures, the Nomad is the only one that really bothered me on the adventure map. Its small size always seemed to me like a mistake. Heroes has other mounted creatures that appear larger on the adventure map so there's no reason the Nomad couldn't have been made the same size.
