I love the Heroes 5 Bone Dragon , and i love the Heroes 2 Dragon he look very scary it was a tougth choise but i have to go with Heroes 5 !  To be honest I always LOVED Heroes 2 , Heroes 3 and 4 I was disapoint in them But To be Honest Heroes 5 GIVES me a Huge HOPE that FINNELY !!!! Heroes is back from a long Sleep !!!! YEAH GO HEROES 5

H5 ... the other ones are horrible. The leg stand is so stupid, and the H4 one has a much too big head and too much light in the eyes. This IS a dragon, after all, and not some Halloween candle.

I liked the H2 one best.
T'was the only Bone Dragon not to look skinny. It was fleshy... in a way.

Like others have said, H2 and H5 are the bests
I chose H5 simply for the sake of the well-done animation and details

Here are some topics for the bone dragon.
The history of the bone dragon
The first time when the bone dragon appeared was in HoMM2.It was a necropolis creature.All necropolis creatures are dead,like skeletons,vampires,zombies and others.Bone dragons are actually dead dragons...And other dead creatures?
skeleton-dead human/peasunt with well preserved bones
zombie-dead decaing human
mummy-preserved dead human body
ghost-dead human with no body
wight-even I don't know.
vampire-dead man,who drinks blood,turns into a bat
lich-a skeleton with given dark power
dead knight-a ghost or a skeleton in a powerfull mail,riding a dead horse
bone dragon-dead dragon with well preserved bones
ghost dragon-a soil of a dragon
spectre dragon-an evil creature summoned by dark magicians
gargoyle-an 'alive' statue
Someone ask how a dead dragon can be forst to get alive,like he wasn't dead.Here is the answer.When a dragon dies a necromancer "calls him from the dead".Ofcourse these necromancers have powerful skills and knowedge.This technic is realised in HoMM2,where bone dragons and other dead creatures appear.In every Heroes necromansers get stronger and stronger than before!Learning more technics of calling dead creatures.But now we are here to talk about the bone dragons.
Structure:
Bone dragons were always weaker than the real alive dragons.One of the bone dragons problem is that they can't throw fire attacks and their bone skeletal doesn't give them great defense,it gives them arrow protection.Bone dragon structal is that what is under the dragons skin and muscles.It looks like dinosaurs bone structal,but with wings.
There are other creatures "called" from great necromancers,like the ghost dragons.They appear in HoMM3,upgrade of the bone dragon.Ghost dragons are like the bone ones,but are actualy ghosts-dragons with no body,just soil.Remember:bone dragons have no soil,but ghost and spectral dragons have.That makes them more powerful than the bone dragon.
In Heroes5 a new dragon-similar to the ghost dragon.It is the upgrade of the bone dragon.Spectral dragons are almost like the ghost one,but their soil is dark!Ghost dragons have "neutral" soils,because necromancers haven't learn to controll it,but when a dragon is called 'spectre',that means his soil is controlled by dark magicians,like the necromancers.However that explanes the dark clouds around the spectral dragon in HoMM5.
What about Heroes4 bone dragons?-Well the necromancers have discovered the way to make bone dragons more stronger.So the new bone dragons are more powerful than the ghost dragons.That is why ghost drags leave Heroes4.
What to wait for the next game from bone dragons?-Ofcouse history will continue-there will be bone dragons,or yhet might be replaised by ghost dragons.The upgrade-we don't know.
This is the story of the bone dragons.
Necromancers and bone dragons
If there is no necromancer,there is no bone dragon,if there is no bone dragon,there is no necromancer.The one thing can't go on,without the other.Like I said-bone dragons are here because there are necromancers,who call them from the dead.Ofcourse necromancers call other creatures from dead,like skeletons-they give them to the dead army.Bone dragons are special.The first bone dragon that a necromancer has 'called' stays with him forever.Young necromancers hurry to upgrade bone dragons to ghost and then to start 'controlling' the dragons soil,which turns it into a spectre dragon.Other 'called' dragons are given to the army,too.In many stories necromancrs ride dead dragons.Well,now you know why.
A necromancer learns only these general magics:'raising dead and dark magic.But don't think that 'raising dead' is the same like 'summoning'.It is very different.So be careful what you say-they're different!
A 'raising dead' spell-if a peasunt or somebody else has been killed his body has no soil.When time passes different creatures eat the mans body.A necromancer comes and looks at the body-it's just a skeletal!Then the necromancer sayes some magical words,which call the dead man to get up and start fighting.When he does that the dead man body or that what has left from him get up and start walking around until the necromancer sayes more magic words and the dead creature turns around and starts listening to the necromancrs orders.More powerfull necromancers 'call' ghosts,bone dragons and even wights!
A 'summoning' spell-a magician says some magic words and 'calls'[not from the dead] an elemental or creatures that can be summoned.
You don't need dead bodies to summon,but you need them,if you want to raise dead.That is one of the differences between 'summon' and 'raise'.
Slaves
Are bone dragons realy necromancrs slaves?-No.This is the answer.But why?Dead creatures have to stay where they are without disturbing.Why do necromancers wake up the dead?-Well,to get more powerful!But why ghost and spectral dragons stay with necromancers?-Actually bone dragons aren't slaves.They don't get angry with the ones who 'called' them.They even are glad that they are brought back to life again.That is why they stay with necromancers and do what they say.Bone dragons just know what necromancers will force them to do.And necromancers are those who upgrade bone dragons into spectral.When they become spectral dragons-necromancers give them missions-to kill good!And evil dragons love that!So,it is hard to say that bone,ghost and spectral dragons are slaves.But nobody knows what the necromance will lead to...
Angles vs bone dragons
Do bone dragons like angels?How do bone,ghost or spectral dragon feel when it sees an angle?Why necromancers hate angels so much?What do angels and archangles think?
We know that devils hate angels and after they see eachother,start to fight.But what about bone dragons?Well,they don't attack angels or archangles unless the angels don't attack them,or necromancers don't give them orders to attack.However ghost dragons don't like angels and may attack them.But it doesn't mean that ghost dragons will always attack angels.They have a free soil.What about spectral dragons?-They realy hate angels!If they see an angel or an archangel,it will strike first with one wish-kill angels!A spectre dragon will always attack Haven creatures.Bone dragons attack angels,'cause necromancers tell them to.Necromancers think that angels must die!When they create dead creatures angels and archangels can easily strike and defeat dead,or bring them back to life with their speciality.So necromancers want to destroy Haven creatures not only for this reason,but others...What do archangels and angels think?They don't mind."I don't care what will happen to me!My duty is to defend the poor and good people,who are ready to do everything to save the country." an archangel sayes.
How to raise a spectre dragon on your own
YOU CAN'T RAISE A SPECTRE DRAGON!Is it true?Well,some powerfull necromancers can,but necromancer starters can't.Spectre dragons are just bone dragons,unless you upgrade the dragon graveyard into a dragon vault in your necrotown.When you enter your city you'll ask-how to turn my bone dragons to spectre dragons.Well the fastest way is to click the letter "U" on your keyboard.Then you click on the two arrows,showing 'up' under the bone dragon icon.And-you have an upgraded dragon.It was easy,wasn't it?Ofcource,you need money...
