Sure, if you define the "Middle East" as simply being Palestine, then this statement makes sense.

However, Iraq is also part of the Middle East. And it's my general impression that people'd rather have a mad despot running their country, than being plundered by infidels, blasted to bits bit maniac "freedom fighters" (from both sides), and having their country torn apart by federalist Kurds and Shiits, who only want the oil riches for themselves, naïve people that they are.
