Poll Question:
The Way of the GEENAY (djinni)

The Genie. The oh-so mysterious being, all that's really decided upon is that it's blue. It's even changed gender a few times.

I like the new one

If so, could you please tell me where his head is?! All I can see is a cap!

The original was more like a terrorist holding his breath for too long.

I liked H2, but preferred H3 and H4, especially the subtle looks and the oriental clothes. I voted for H3 (upgraded, of course!) simply because it is male. It resembles the stereotype more!

I believe Heroes 5 Djiin is not exactly the genie we used to know. They say it's chaotic and combined from elements, while the old genie was orderful like and composed with air element... Besides the look of it... is a bit disturbing...

And upgrade is Djinn Sultan ????

I voted for h1.
It's a classic!

h2 genie is ugly, h3 and h4 versions are both good. and i really dislike the h5 version.

I will, imo, rate them in the order of: H3 (the coolest looking ones and that they hate efreeti), H4 (the spellcasting on opponents instead of melee is a bonus), H2, H1, H5 (although waiting until the game is out to pass judgement on them might be a good idea).

I think I'll go with H3, followed closely by H2. I liked the swirly rings of the H2 genie, but I didn't feel comfortable with the halving attack. It was useful, if a bit unfair.

It looks like we're getting the genies & efreet rolled into one in the H5 djinn.  And they messed it up!  Djinn need heads.  It doesn't matter how much fun the artist is having drawing the World's Fuzziest Hat.  You cannot forget to give the djinni a head!  In the huge art image, you can just barely make out a teeny tiny spot under that gigantic rim of fur, but it has no face -- I'm not even positive it's a head at all.  Are they robbing the djinn of their individuality?  Any djinn heroes?

On a more positive note...While somewhat torn between H3 and H4, I went with H3.  They come in both genders, like the heroes, and they're better drawn.    The H4 has some nice detailing, but the proportions are funky.

The name of Djinn comes from Moslem mythology, and the scimitar is a weapon that was favored by the Arabs and Turks(where the Moslems came from).  But, yes I agree with you on that they use spells in combat; however there is a possibility that they may have to fight in melee, so how would they do that (I mean sure they could use their hands, but why not use a sword in order to do more damage in melee attacks).  Plus, for those who will play this game that might be new to the series, might think "why would they not have a weapon, most other creatures in the game seem to have a weapon of some sort."

If it's a magical scimitar, then it won't be as bad. Some colored magical effects from the blade would work. Regular sword effects (slashing, no magic) would not fit, as was mentioned above, since the being is obviously magical. It would be plain silly for a creature like a genie not to use a magical attack.

I agree with that.  Maybe the sword's atack will be similar to the Archangel's from H3.

True that Djinn is a reflection of Arab culture and thus the presence of the scimitar, however most homm fans would relate the Djinn to the old Genie who has used magic as a melee attack.

But anyways thats just my two cents.

Don't get me wrong, but to me that's not a genie, its some sort of spirit, well, can't blame him,cuz he's a djinn.Aniway,i think that thr Lamp Genie from II is the best,i have lived with it in my PC.The H3 ones are pretty good, but my vote goes to HII.

The first time I saw the H5 version I wasn't satisfied with it, but it has grown on me. Now I think it is one of my favorite units (Along with the Nightmare, the Druid and the Angel. The artist did a good job on it. It is a very well balanced piece, in terms of principles of design.
