Customizing the heroes
I am creating an own map in Heroes 3, and I would like to customize the heroes to make them a bit more personal. I would like to change the names of the heroes into something else, preferably names of characters from mythology, history and fiction, that would also fit with the class, speciality, secondary skills and portrait of that hero.
I have almost completed it, but some heroes are hard to rename, and others could be better. So I wonder if any creative and educated minds out there could give me any fun suggestions for new names for my Heroes.
I give you a few examples of my current names so you know what I mean:
Castle: Arthur, Merlin, Black Adder, Sorsha
Tower: Yoda, Saruman, Marie Curie
Rampart: Gandalf, Gimli, Legolas
Stronghold: Madmartigan, Conan, Shrek
Fortress: Wilhelm Tell, Diane Fossey
Dungeon: Jabba the Hutt, Bavmorda
Inferno: Hypatia, Antichrist, Lucifer
Necropolis: Vlad Dracula, Witchking
Conflux: Callisto, Han Solo

No, I haven´t changed any portraits. So I need characters that would fit the look of a particular hero to be able to replace him, for example Thant = Vlad Dracula.

Heldenbilder
Wie wäre es mit den Damen und Herren aus dem Herrn der Ringe? Die hübsche Arwen daheim im Rampart? Kein Problem.
Die Bilder müssen im PCX-Format (256 Farben) vorliegen. In zwei Größen:

http://modhomm3.free.fr/portrait/aide02.htm
Orrin wäre also:
hpl000kn.pcx
hps000kn.pcx

..put in Sean Connery as King in your Castle:
...or Sigourney Weaver as Witch in your Dungeon:
Name of the Heroepotrait is easy:
1. hpl = heroeportraitlarge ....and
hps = heroeportraitsmall
2. a number in a range of 8 numbers
..example 000 to 007 = Knights
..example 008 to 015 = Clerics
3. short form of heroe type
..example kn for Knights
..example cl for Clerics
so in the end it is hpl004kn.pcx and hps004kn.pcx for a knight
and hpl009cl.pcx and hps009cl.pcx for a Cleric.
Looks simple right?

how does it works exactly?
do you have to make some scripts or does it simply adds these to the heroes selection?
if it does how can you specify the specials of this heroe?

While this game was programmed all data wasnt compressed into *.lod files. So the programm searched for all game infos in the data folder. The programm still does search in this folder. If it finds nothing it searches the lod files.
Well, put something in and it does find something.

As far as i know are the specialities not in the lod files ...they are somewhere in the source code of the game.
As far as i know it can only be managed by wog skript, but u need to be an expert with wog skripts to do that. I dont like wog, so i dunno.
