Need people fluent in German!

I was wondering if there are any people fluent in German here, as i am taking it as one of my classes, and would like practice with my grammer and such. Anyone?

Doesn't Angelito know German? I've seen him on HC only intermittently as of late.

Angelito is indeed German and so is Xarfax, yet he does not post in Other Side. Perhaps you could tell him there is this thread?

Ok angelito, i don't know much of it except basic questions and responses.

If someone says something to me, that i don't understand, i would reply

Ich nicht verstehe  However, roughly translated to english, that would be "I not understand" which would be enough to get my point across, but the grammer would sound somewhat od.

Du spreche Englisch?

When asking someones name, what sounds more appropriate

Wie heißen Sie
-or-
Wie heißt du?

"Wie heißt du" sounds better.

"Wie heißen Sie" is "What is their name" if I remember correctly...?

And when asking if someone speaks English, I think it's "Sprichst du englisch?". Not sure though, I'm pretty much a beginner

"I don´t understand" would be "Ich verstehe nicht". But normaly u would say "Das habe ich nicht verstanden" ("that i didn´t understand", if translated word by word). Sometimes u can hear the short form of that phrase: "Wie bitte?"

Problem in german with "Du" and "Sie" is the "distance" u have to somebody. In english, there is only "you". In german, you say "Du" if u know this person very well and if u have some kind of relation. If it is a foreigner or other grown ups, you say "Sie".
"Wie heißt Du?" -> Question to a girl / guy in your class / neighborhood etc...
"Wie heißen Sie" -> Question to your grown up neighbor, your teacher, a policeman, a person u meet in a train etc...
"Sprechen Sie englisch?" (to a grown up, foreigner)
"Sprichst Du englisch?" (to guy/girl about same age or a friend)

And of course, if i wanted to insult someone

Du bist eine scheißkopf!

Hmm anyways let me try introducing myself in german.

Hallo, Ich bin Jonathan, Ich bin 15 jahre alt. Ich spiele Football gern in meine freizeit, auch Ich esse und trinke gern.

Infinitive is "sprechen" (verbs are written with small capitol letters)

You will never hear a german saying this. This is no typical insult in german...its nothing.

Hallo, ich bin Jonathan. Ich bin 15 Jahre alt. In meiner Freizeit spiele ich gerne Football, ebenso esse und trinke ich gern. ("ich" is written with small capitol letters except as starting word of a sentence).

You did well so far, coz german is really tough to learn. Keep up the good work

It's like in French "Vous" et "Tu".
When talking to an old lady, you must say "Vous"
