Yes Val it would probably have been very humid. The bible mentions in Genesis that a kind of water canopy existed around the earth.
Genesis 1: 6-7 says.

"And God went on to say: Let an expanse come to be in between the waters and let a dividing occur between the waters and the waters.

"Then God proceeded to make the expanse and to make and to make a division between the waters that should be beneath the expanse and the waters that should be above the expanse, and it came to be so.
And God began to call the expanse heaven".

I borrowed a little clipping from verse 8 there to show that the expanse above was high above the earth revealing that there was a water canopy surrounding the earth and that God allowed ths to fall when he unleashed the floodgates of the heavens. This would also explain where all the additional water came from to create the flood in the first place.

The idea of a water canopy is not so fantastic when you consider that several of our solar systems planets are surrounded by gas canopie's
It would have regulated the temperature around the earth and given added protection from the suns rays.
It would also explain why humans lived for up to 900 yaers or more before the flood but only 120 yaers after the flood, because of the dramatic change in climate once this canopy was gone.
The earths geology before the flood would also have been significantly different.
As we know two thirds of the earth is covered in water, but before that canopy fell most of it was probably land and the world map would be unrecognisable from todays map.

Another thought I've had about the "structure". The "ribs" are organic, but have no wood rings. The structure is symmetrical. What if these are remains of one of the hugest animals on the earth?
