WoG for homm5?

As everyone knows heroes 5 are almost ready, many people play beta and it is sure that the game will not be in 100% as we want it.
It surely will be very similar to h3, but with better graphics and some small changes.
H3 was best in series and one of the best games ever, but now it should be replaced with new versions.
I think that WoG project should be moved to make its version for H5 - to add all wog features to new game and make new best game.
H5 without many WoG options will not be as good and H3 time is almost over.

Well, it might be somewhat difficult to transfer all the work directly as the engine is different so the code will be different, but I hope that Ubisoft will care more about the fans of the game than 3DO so they will be more helpful to modders, hell they might even go out of their way and make special tools to make modding easier (I really hope so).

The Ubisoft won't do it. And as long as Heroes V is succes Wog team shouldn't do any HOMM V Wog, they should leave it for next not-so-good game

Maslo:

That is stupid thinking. If heroes 5 will be good then most of heroes 3 players [so wog players] will leave h3 and move to new game. And it would be great to have in h5 all great ideas from h5.
If WoG creators were thinking like you then we wouldnt have  wog for h3, but for h4, because h4 are bad game.

Wog was made to add some features to H3 and they were like perfect features to H4. And so Wog is H4 in H3 world. It was made also as a substitute of H4 and to save player from being bored.

I also think that h4 had many really good features. And h3 was great game, and after adding some h4 options + other from wog it is almost perfect.
But even with wog heroes 3 are old, too old. I have played it for years and I am happy that they made h5 at last. But I know that it won't be as good as h3, but I will play it - because of new graphics, new ideas. And probably most of h3 players will do the same.
So making WoG for h3 will be rather a waste of time, thousands of players would like to have WoG for h5 [on h5 beta forum you may read quite often that people trust that WoG team will repair what Nival breaks].

Maybe you are right

But Wog seems weired to me, not that i don't like it, just I'm not familiarized with it.But either ways Wog was a desperate step for Heroes series and it didn't spoiled Heroes because after H4 there was nothing left to spoil.

But understand: this is not offence. Wog should be kept as a secret weapon. And beware, don't try to compare Wog to everything because there could be found something better than it.

There are good games, which are fun to play and bad ones, which aren't fun to play. One game be on someones "good" list and someone else may call it "bad". I plaid h4 some time and I know it is "bad" for me. And not only for me.

As a member of the WoG team, I must say that WoG for HoMM3 will not go away. Many think that HoMM3 is the best in the series and with the addition of WoG made the game even better. HoMM5 could possibly be a good/great game. But with WoG, you can do so much more to the game of H3 that you may never do with another game again. HoMM3 still has great graphics and excellent gameplay. I know many gamers who play HoMM3/WoG for the first time and really enjoy the combination.
Once WoG 3.59 is released, it'll change the concept of gaming altogether and reunite fans who've left HoMM3/WoG for newer pastures. For now, many are experiencing a new genre of Heroes,HoMM5, and that's a good thing. In order for H5 to survive and save the series, the expansions had better include much more than just a few new creatures and Map Textures. More towns and choices would be nice! Because variety IS the spice of life.

i desperately share ur opinion in ur posts,Zeldor .i also hold that H4 is bad and H3/Wog is too old.on the premise that H5 is good enough,I appeal eye-blood-shedingly

You could always learn scripting and have a new gameplay everyday. Make the creatures do what you want, and make anything do what you want it to do. How could you say that's old?

By saying "too old", I did not mean any dislike nor they are not good any more, just wishing for something new and different. only continuous renovation could make things alive and keep it, this is the reason for HOMM series having been upgraded from 1 to 5, and it also applies to other games and things.
just because I like WOG,I expect more features in it, and I hope Wog can extract good stuff from H5.   if H5  proved to be a success and loved by us Wog players,y not make a Wog of H5?

No major mod has been made for a Heroes game until the company stops releasing patches and expansions for it because it makes no sense to do so and would require redoing a lot of work, so this request is a bit premature (by at least a year I think).

I don't know if Slava or anyone will make a WoG-style mod for H5. It's far too new and many of us on the WoG team don't even have computers that can RUN H5 yet, let alone modify it.

It took years for the team to get where we are with WoG without the source code. Unless Ubisoft makes it far easier to modify H5, it would require starting from scratch.

Also, there are team members who don't like the 3D aspects of the game and much prefer the simpler 2D sprites. I don't know if they would be interested in working on a project like this. I don't know what Slava's opinion is yet but I don't suppose his current computer could run H5 anyway (although I could be mistaken).

And Fnord, I think you mentioned somewhere that even IF all of the WoG Team could run H5, and we started WoGifying H5 now, the expansions would wipe out all the effort put into the modification. Thusly, it would'nt make any sense to start on an add-on for H5 until Ubisoft has or will release expansions for it. SO, for those of you who are playing H5, play it, and hope and dream for an add-on only after all expansions and patches are in place. A year or a couple of years at least, I'm sure. An H5 complete, if you will.

I can't imagine new creatures in wog-like h5 expansion. I mean, it must be insanely hard to do such models&animations without being a true professionalist ~~
