Description

Giant insects are the youngest nation in the world. They were created after war between wizards and necromancers. It turned huges areas uninhabitable for ages, but inhabitable only for normal creatures. What used to live there before mutated for tens of years and started to form one nation. Although they are not strong they grow in numbers very fast - if you are not carefull you will be surrounded by legions. Their homeland does not possess knowledge about any spells, but their heroes can learn and use them by conquering other towns.

Town look: In the center big anthill with dwelling and other buildings around it.

A Summary

Insectopia is lead by ant queens, who manage all the society. Most important tasks are done by ant workers, they also breed other insects, which joined the faction. They do not have any god nor religion, they just live. And in nature only the strongest survives - the weaker is eaten.

Insectopia: A Chronological History

610-660 YSD: Rise of the Necromancers
The Necromancer presence grows until they are a powerful political force in the Seven Cities.

751-770 YSD: Purge of the Necromancers - Civil war in the Seven Cities
Necromancers were able to take control of huge territory of the Seven Cities and trying to take control of the rest, but wizards had plans for that situation. They launched massive attack on necromancer towns.

Necromancers used every possible way to win, both sides used magic of power never seen before. After 19 years of fights necromancers started to weaken and were forced to flee in the east.

771-813 YSD
First mutations can be observed in magically destroyed territories.

813-822 YSD: War of the Broken Staff
Second war between wizards and necromancers. Part of it is fought on destroyed lands, sinking them with more and more devastating magic. Mutations get much faster, giant ants start builgind huge colonies and hunting on manticores, chimeras and other mutated creatures.

861 YSD: The Hive
Faction is crystalised, ants leading huge armies and making colonies all over magical wastelands.

897 YSD: Explorations
Insects start to starve and fight with each other due to lack of food. Expedition consisting of legions of insects goes to south and enters jungle and marshes, finding food source. Food source that can defend and fight for life. It is the begginnig of the war with lizardmen and their minions, which starts till now, with insects gaining constant lead.

Relations with other towns:
Insects know only 3 factions: Wizards, Necromancers and Lizardmen. First and last are treated as food source, although wizards are very hard enemy for insects and attacks on Silver League territories are very rare and driven by hunger.
Relations with necromancers are neutral, as long as they do not enter insects' grounds, because they do not attack anything that is not edible.

Insectopia does not have magic guilds, they have 5 levels of mutator instead.

Mutator lvl 1-5 [I hope that I named it well - it is building for mutations] - Every level adds random mutation for all insects, each giving small bonus. Mutations may repeat. Creature must mutate in Mutation Chambers to receive those bonuses.

Mutation Chambers - Enables mutation of creatures - gives chosen creatures mutations enabled by mutator. If creature had any earlier mutations it looses them and gains new ones.

It surely needs some more balance, I did not spent too much time on it and some veteran player probably could make it better.

I think it would be really interesting to kill that insects

I like this town...just the thought of attacking a giant earthworm makes me laugh.

BTW Zeldor, if you don't explain how all these creatures came to be in the same organization then you will get slammed.

Go for it - but remember, the deadline for the Nival contest is the 28th of february. So you are in a hurry if you want to submit your faction there as well.

Best of luck to you.

you have got to be kidding me...just bugs. they fit nowhere into the HOMM universe, they are mindless bugs. What are you gonna make as a hero? The Spider Queen? Spiderman?

Or even better, have the Ant queen, she doesn't move, she takes up 6 hexes, but she just shoots out ants!
