Well, I was born in Russia in Moscow, but lived most of my life in a small hicktown 45km away from it. Just to give you a general idea about my town - when I last visited it I was 18. At that time my next door neighbor was 20 and has already been in jail 3 times.
It was fun nevertheless, I've spent most of my time outside hanging around, skiing, playing hockey, soccer and rackby, brawling, destroying public property and other fun activities. (Our version of rackby basically consisted of 5 on 5 or 6 on 6 fights since none of us really knew how to play it).
When I was 13, I moved to Moscow where I studied in a hardcore school which took 24/7 of my time. Btw, just an FYI for all you panzies - the school week in Russia is 6 days long.
When I was 15, I moved to Canada where they have 5 day school week and where they study the multiplication table in grade 10, which essentially meant that I didn't have to do jacks**t since I already knew everything up to the 1-st year university. This is where my hardcore computer addiction has finally got an opportunity to kick in. C&C, Diablo, Civ 2, Warlords 3, HOMM2, etc took most of my time. Later on the old games were replaced with UO (Untima Online) and then the other MMORPGs that followed. I've played many MMORPG betas and even payed for a few months of Earth and Beyond (I am still surprised EA has cancelled it, because it was one of their most profitable projects).
Now I am 24, I've graduated from the University of Waterloo, I do software development for a living and I do Muay Thai for fun. There's nothing like knocking people out while groovin' to the tradition Thai music - I'll probably start fighting some time this year.
To TNT - I haven't seen many people break their bones while sparring. I think this is related to the fact that we aren't allowed to spar until we know WTF we are doing and because we wear fist, head and shin protection. Although, very often people do get hurt (well, duh!) and some even break their toes when they mess up their kicks or leg blocks.
During the fights I've only seen one broken toe and a few light concussions after the knockouts (well, maybe there might have been something else like cracked ribs, but it wasn't apparent for the people watching the fights).

I'm beginning to see that now, hmmm...

Russ I don't think that thai kickboxing involves too much hand grabbing, leg pulling and hard slamming on the mat. It is enough not to concentrate at falling 1 measely time to land bad on your hand and get 30 days of inactivity in the army , thats why I stuck with this sport LoL.

I was a secretary for 2 months with all my injuries, I can make some really good java now, amazing the stuff you pick up in the army!

I bet it was easier for you to adapt to the way of life in Canada after all they speak english there, you should try at the age of 15 to learn some hebrew, mission impossible rings in my head. You know it is writen from right to left LoL, and the letters can't be connected. I thought I was going mad the first time and my mom after 15 years here still can't speak even on basic level.

@EDIT Well after I bumped my head into the fridge today I was blessed with a thought.

So here is my crib:

And the place where I spend my weekends, the Tel-Aviv beach. The pic was made a week ago just to show what "winter" we got in Israel.

My name is Matt in real life, but I prefer Guitarguy among strangers. The above is my best picture, which was taken in 2003. I don't have a scanner, so I don't post photos very often.

I live with six other family members at home in Hawaii. I attend the local university, and I'm currently in my second year of higher education. I've only got four more months left as a teenager, and then that's it.

I first started playing guitar at my church in 2001. Prior to that, I had practically zero talents whatsoever. I'm really into music right now, and I'm hoping to be in a successful band someday. Furthermore, I hope I can record at least one album during my lifetime. I have a small collection of guitars, and my favorite weapon of choice is usually an acoustic guitar. I've branched out into electric guitars lately, so the pride of my collection is my Rickenbacker 12-string.

I used to songwrite, but I'm currently taking an extended break to build up inspiration. I'm looking forward to recording my own material in the future, so I hope I'll get inspired soon. Also, I'm mediocre when it comes to singing. Nevertheless, I've been trying my best to learn how to sing.

My addiction to computer games started during the 5th grade, and I am very embarrassed by it in real life. Games have consumed too much of my time, and I hope to drop this addiction before more time is lost. Still, I remember playing some great games. There's Heroes, of course, as well as others like QFG, Starcraft, Diablo 2, and Age of Empires. I think computer games helped me to become interested in history, which is going to be my college major. I previously wanted to design computer games as an adult, but luckily I've come to my senses.

Heroes 2 was my first favorite computer game. I was truly addicted to it in 5th and 6th grade. I remember the tremendously long wait for Heroes 3 to come out. When it finally did, I took it in like family. Needless to say, the gaming experience was awesome. I've never played a Heroes multiplayer game, since I've never gotten it to work on my computer. Then again, I've always been addicted to singleplayer, as I get much satisfaction from beating that upstart AI. I mostly play Heroes (and all other games) for enjoyment and not to become an expert player. I'm not a very good Heroes player as a result, but I still enjoy it immensely.

I also enjoy hanging out at HC and several other online forums. I love to write long and meaningful posts (I write more passionately here than on my college essays). I've shared a lot about my problems and experiences in the Downhill Times thread as well as elsewhere. I like writing mini-fanfics about Heroes and other things (e.g. Bob). There have been good times and trying times. Overall, it's been a very good one.

On the side, I like to read books (that interest me!) and take trips to the mall from time to time. I've been fan of The Simpsons for a few years now, and I've recently taken a liking to Family Guy. I also like to play chess, even though I play rather poorly. But no matter what day it is, I usually make time to listen to music. And there's a great chance that it's R.E.M. in my CD-player.

I really hate the ignorance the western media has. For some reason they started to call it kickboxing and everyone picked it up from them.

Kickboxing = originated in Japan in 1970-s to combine the best of karate (kicks) and boxing (since it had superior punches).

Muay Thai = literally translated as "Thai Boxing". It started a few thousand years ago as a battlefield fighting technique, which became an extremely popular arena sport in 1500-s. It was so popular that every village had its local Muay Thai tournaments, champions, etc. In 1930-s it was regulated to include rounds, weight classes and gloves and became what we know it today.

Btw, there is hard slamming on the mat in Muay Thai
You can: kick, knee, punch and elbow, you can also clinch. When you clinch you can either consinue using close range arsenal like hooks, elbows and knees, or try to bring your opponent down. The only thing that you are not allowed to do is use your body as a leverage (no hip throws, etc). Obviously, you can't grab your opponent's hands, etc with your 14-ounce gloves. There is no ground fighting either.

Well I suppose rather than just comment on everyone else's writing, I'dd add something about me too

I've been around the Hommunity forever, I used to play way too much so much in fact - that a lot of people didn't believe I was a girl lol  I guess the idea of a Homm addicted chick was too much for some guys to believe... especially one that would kick their butts lol

I don't really play anymore, just had my first game in over a year actually and it was sooooo strange feeling Fun still though, I think that once you start with HoMM you can never really break the habit.

For me the best part of it though has always been the people I have met over the years. They're why I stick around, and why the Heroes Community is so important to me. I guess even though a lot of them have gone, I always figure if we stay here and keep it going there will always be somewhere for them to come back to

As for my RL, I'm married with 2 awesome kids - I live in Canada, love hockey and I love beer , and have really never found a moose all that attractive

First Pan don't use the word Hommunity anymore please, it just sounds plain wrong .

Second about that moose, you did give it a second thought though, no?

To Guitarguy I have to admit that I admire people who continue to college and universities to search for higher learning, I always hated school so much that I was cutting half the classes to play basketball in the parks with some tough players. Luckyly in Israel we don't need higher learning to make good money, well at least people who aren't afraid of work, so I do not plan to go to college anytime soon or EVER in that matter.

What about nicknames anyone got them? I get called mouse a lot, because I'm fast with the ball and my real name is Mikey.

ROFLMAO!!!!! This is so funny I laughed even though I am at work.

Here are the nicknames that I've been called during my childhood:
*Old snow - belive it or not, my last name means "Son of an Old snow" in Russian. I guess this one was too obvious for the other kids to miss
*Bald ("Lisij" in Russian) - my mom cut my hair really short.
*Brake ("Tormoz" in Russian) - I was called this in the summer camp - I got it because I was a bit slow during my first day there and to no surprise the nickname stayed with me until I left.

I haven't really had any nicknames after that. Maybe KGB - this is how I was called in Muay Thai because I was the only Russian in there for some time, but now we got like 10, so now people are back to calling me my name, which is kind of sad, because I liked KGB

@TNT - you look like you could use a razor and a haircut (but I don't think you should combine the two).

He just got a weird canadian - russian humour, plus he says he likes to play tower so your nickname was an immediate turn on for him.

P.S Russ they should have tried calling you lisij tormoz, just a nice combo.

And how exactly son of an old ***** goes in one name ? Sin staroi **** does not fit...

P.S 2 I just let myself go since I left the army. It's nice not to have to shave your beard every day and have a 5 mm haircut.

Well, I kind of thought about how you must look like to get such nickname.

@TNT - think about ONE word in Russian that stands for "old snow". not 2 - ONE.

The last name endings like "-ov", and "-in" kind of mean "son of". For example, a last name like Ivanov is literally translated as "of Ivan" (the actual word "son" was dropped a few centuries ago to avoid having to say or write "Ivanov sin", or "son of Ivan").

Imagine a 13-14 year old weighing circa 50kg at the height of 180cm and you'll end up with a fairly good idea of what I was like back then.
