Heroes Mini web game discussion

As announced on AOH:

Quote:
Heroes Mini is the official Heroes of Might and Magic V Mini Game. It has been open for several days, but hasn't yet been announced on the main Might and Magic web site. I think it is still being evaluated.

The game is quite simplistic. You are given 5000 gold, a choice of faction, and selection of creatures to recruit. Then you challenge another player or get challenged (usually involves 3-15 minute wait) and the battle involves issuing 5 orders in advance. An order is ordering one of your three stacks to attack one of the opponent's three stacks. There is no battlefield as such. No heroes, magic or special abilities. You get gold based on kills in the battle and can hire more creatures for the next battle. There are also medals for various battle achievements and a ranking ladder.

It seems that one of the ways to ace this game is to always try to fully eliminate one of the opponent's stacks, as this gives you an extra gold bonus which is likely to exceed your losses.

Post your opinions and tactics here!

I must also note that 1 Green Dragon only kills 1 Imp. Same has been said about 1 Angel killing only 1 Peasant.

argh, this game is very annoying

it is quite hard to build up an army because people stronger than you keep challenging you. so you must retreat. then when you challenge someone, and you can only have a list of 10 people to choose from, you have to wait for them to either accept or you can retreat and try again

this game is has an interesting base but very hard to play and overall too time consuming. the main part of the game, challenging and battles, was not thought out well, as it is quite hard starting out

if anyone does find ways around these things that wont take me a week, HCM me

Newcomer help and advices...

A nice fun, interesting and exiting game .
I got the hang of it after the first fight in which I was anihilated like most newcomers by stronger and more experienced player.

I will share some begginer strategy here so that other players will get an easier start and could pick on newcomers themselves .

1) What you must do is not to leave weak stacks in your army, that means all stacks must be as close to 50 as you can afford. If you can afford only 20 you are taking a risk at getting your stack eliminated and this could cost you the battle. Low level units with high numbers are way better than high level units with low numbers, example: 50 familiars could easyly kill up to 4 archdevils . So max out your unit numbers up to 50.

2) Get various units, like spellcasters against fliers and ranged, infantry against cavalry and spellcasters, fliers against infantry and cavalry, cavalry against ranged and spellcasters, ranged against infantry and fliers. You must have various units to be able to cause damage to all units and fight off all challengers, for example you got 3 stacks of 50 familiars and an opponent attacks you with 50 golems, equal armies by money worth but he will crush you because infantry rocks against spellcasters and there is nothing you can do to win...

3) Retreat a lot, stronger players with more gold and experience are always looking for easy pickings , get an info about this guy from his profile and if you see his army is much bigger than yours and he fought over 20 battles retreat immediatly, we the "experienced" players got many tricks up our sleeves .

4) Don't rush to buy more army, your wealth will attract bigger fish than you could handle, more money = more problems, the more money you got you can challenge less poor opponents and open the opportunity window for wealthy challengers to attack you, and they know what they are doing for sure. Save money untill you can fill all the 3 stacks with good units and they are maxed out to 50.

5) Try guessing your opponents moves and the stack that he will attack all throughthout the battle and try using your 2 other stacks cause the one that will be attcked will decrease in attack power, try attacking his stack that has bonus against your best stack so you won't lose as much of your main power.

6) Elimination of stacks is the key to the game, killing units is good but if he eliminates any of your stacks even the weakest of them and you killed many of his strong units he will win because he has eliminated one of your stacks. Crush his weak stacks to get bonus gold and points and eventually the win.

7) Try going for the newcomers that buy 3 different stacks with 5000 they get at the start like 5 griffins 30 archers and 10 knights, you could easily totaly anihilate this opponent with ony 50 familiars and 50 horned overseers about the same money worth too.

BTW my handle there is MightyMikey so watch out for your newcomer basher .

very good guide, QP well deserved

edit: a few tips that i picked up

check the little thing at the bottom that tells you what page is being loaded. if it is "http://www.heroesmini.com/....orders". if you see orders that means you will be given orders and your challenge has gotten through

if you see "profile" instead of "orders" than the player has just entered battle and you are loading up the page for nothing

also i might suggest to play as necro at the start. buy 3 stacks of skele archers, with 50 in each. should cost 3500. play the game a bit till you get the hang of how everything works. then reset your account and start again. i did this and i found it helped

Also some precision when buying multiple stacks:
don't mix weak troops with strong ones: you'll only be more vulnerable.
That's because you army value will make you face other strong armies, for which it will be a no-brainer to destroy your weak stack (maxed out at 50 units of course).

Not true, when your opponent is wasting turns beating up your weak stack you can use your strong one to take out his most expensive one and bag some good cash prize .

This is a very cool and tactical oriented game. You get used to the new creatures of H5 very fast that way.

Some experience i have made so far:

1. Dungeon and Necropolis seem to be by far the best towns
The combination 50 Archlichs + 50 Bone Dragons is very strong. If u look up the current standings, you will see, the first 6 places are only necropolis.
2. Write down the "strong/weak" table and learn it by heart. This will help ya a lot. Try to "forget" what you know about Heroes 3, then your chances to win some fights are higher..
3. Itīs correct as mentioned, a fight is decided by the number of completely killed stacks. If both eleminated the same amount of stacks, the earned money is what counts next. But here is the tricky thing. You can lose 3 battles in a row, but earned so much money, that u r able to buy way more troops.
4. It is a very good strategy to have a big stack and a weak stack in your troop. For example with dungeon: 50 Deeper Hydras and 50 Assassins. 50 Deeper Hydras will kill ANY cavalry or magic stack in 5 rounds. So if u meet Haven with paladins and/or Inquisitors....easy prey for you....same goes for Sylvan and its unicorns.
5. There is a strategy vs the Archlichs & Bonedragon combo

Here is the logfile of the fight i had with someone who had 2 times 50 Archlichs(magics) and 1 time 50 Bonedrags(flyers) vs me. (i had 3 times 50 shadow matriarchs).

Round 1
  angelito's 50 Shadow Matriarchs attack BigMal's 49 Bone Dragons!
Casters are strong against Flyers
9 Bone Dragons are killed, 40 remain.
angelito gains 16200

  BigMal's 49 Bone Dragons attack angelito's 50 Shadow Matriarchs!
Flyers are weak against Casters
5 Shadow Matriarchs are killed, 45 remain.
BigMal gains 7500

Round 2
  angelito's 50 Shadow Matriarchs attack BigMal's 40 Bone Dragons!
Casters are strong against Flyers
10 Bone Dragons are killed, 30 remain.
angelito gains 18000

  BigMal's 40 Bone Dragons attack angelito's 45 Shadow Matriarchs!
Flyers are weak against Casters
6 Shadow Matriarchs are killed, 39 remain.
BigMal gains 9000

Round 3
  angelito's 50 Shadow Matriarchs attack BigMal's 30 Bone Dragons!
Casters are strong against Flyers
12 Bone Dragons are killed, 18 remain.
angelito gains 21600

  BigMal's 50 Archlichs attack angelito's 39 Shadow Matriarchs!
10 Shadow Matriarchs are killed, 29 remain.
BigMal gains 15000

Round 4
  angelito's 50 Shadow Matriarchs attack BigMal's 18 Bone Dragons!
Casters are strong against Flyers
12 Bone Dragons are killed, 6 remain.
angelito gains 21600

  BigMal's 50 Archlichs attack angelito's 29 Shadow Matriarchs!
10 Shadow Matriarchs are killed, 19 remain.
BigMal gains 15000

Round 5
  angelito's 50 Shadow Matriarchs attack BigMal's 6 Bone Dragons!
Casters are strong against Flyers
6 Bone Dragons are killed. The Bone Dragons are eliminated!
angelito gains 10800, plus a bonus of 44100

  BigMal's 50 Archlichs attack angelito's 50 Shadow Matriarchs!
8 Shadow Matriarchs are killed, 42 remain.
BigMal gains 12000

angelito eliminated 1 unit without a loss.
Decisive Victory! angelito earns a bonus of 41343
angelito gains 165375, BigMal gains 58500

It was even a decisive victory. The lucky part just was, opponent never attacked the Matriarchs i used as attacker...so i could attack 5 rounds with full 50 stack.

My first faction was Haven, but i found out they are very weak in high level units compared to other towns. Paladin and Inquisitors are no match vs Collossus or vs Hydras. Angels are easy prey when facing Archlichs or Shadow Matriarchs. Only the start is good with Griffs and knights.
So i changed to Dungeon now, and it seems they are much easier to handle.

u got lucky there Dirk,
still 3*50 matriarchs means 225k, when 50 boners and 2*50 liches are 165k or so.12 boners per round is unusual though as far as i know...
baaah forget it im just jelous i couldn't kill that combo yet
