is it possible to mod summon creatures and town portal?
I'd like to option to choose which town instead of the closest one. I always thought that was stupid...

UNFORTUNATELY, I have to say that I think the answer to this is no. If anybody can correct me, please do it (!), but it seems like all spell effects are hard-coded into the game - which means that the information lies in the HeroesV.exe file and is not moddable.

Heroes (and most modern games) have a fairly simple executable, and load most of their information from external files. This allows the developers (and us) to change things like stats, names and so forth. Unfortunately it is a lot harder to do this for things like spell effects, since they are so varied. This means that part of the program's basic structure includes dealing with these spells; it does not look externally in data.pak / whatever for the information. Hence without source code it cannot be changed.
Does that explain it?

I think it does, but more simply put: The information we want to change lies in the Heroes5.exe file, which we cannot modify to my knowledge.

No we don't have the source code, but we could disassemble the whole thing and hack it..
just jokin' I know it's illegal
EDIT: Have a farily simple executable?!? Why is it so big then?

Could we actually do that?

First you need disassembler, a good one.
Then you have to find out where the teleportation stuff is (or summon creatures).
If you need to "add" some stuff instead of simple replacing, it would require a hell lot.
Simply put, you need around 10 years for the simple "replace" (if you're not lucky and find it hard, games are hard to debug), and 60 years to do the whole job, unless you're very proficient.. but I don't think you have such a patience
obviously I was joking with this thing
EDIT: Actually some hackers are pretty good at this, but if you ask them it's still very difficult (I have a few experience though). By "hacker" I don't mean the 'terrorist idea' most people think, hacker means someone proficient (very proficient) in software and hardware, and getting the best out of them together.. it doesn't necessary mean to do any harm

LOL So what? Weed is illegal too...
It's just that, as you said, it takes too much time and a lot of skill...
In heroes III you could choose which town you summon from with expert earth magic...
