RSF, let's talk about a PRP

Seeing as msn isn't working out, and you can't really collaborate ideas over HCM..

I wouldn't mind doing a futuristic one.

How about a story of first contact, doesn't even have to have humans, maybe two different alien races, one is yours, one mine, or something

Or in a fantasy setting

I'd like to do something where a tyrannical empire rules the world, kinda like a 1984 type government, but not necessarily futuristic, it could happen in a fantasy setting as well, maybe working for the government and doing the dirty work to cover up their work (to keep the law breaking in secret) or maybe like a rebel working against it.

Or what could be cool is a competition setting. Doesn't really matter what it is, but it'd be more interesting if it involved death and killing, like contestants fighting, or a manger of a team recruiting new ones. It could be like Unreal Tournament kinda thing, not to do with plot, but what I liked about UT2004 single player was choosing players, spending money on new ones and testing them out, and you get attached to some of them and try to make them better. If it's futuristic you can get bio enhancements and new weaponry for your team and try for the ultimate prize, but there would need to be a series of twists to keep it interesting I guess.

Just some ideas let me know what you think.

Hmm I guess the ones in the first post stand, but also it might be interesting to do one in which psychic powers play a role.

For alot of people, or a few, doesn't matter, but all sorts of telekenisis and telepathy would be cool.

Other than that I dno atm

What about two people, omnipotent, like gods, sit down to play a chess type war game which has a real effect on real life.

It can be a double story with the relationship between the two gods (you and me), whether they outwardly disagree or just a blatant disregard for human life, or a friendly competition, and then the major battle that goes in on consequence.

It could be like two heroes armies, consistent ones, like death vs life. God vs the devil.

And we expand from there.

What do you say

The idea is interesting. But just as a preference, I think I'd like to do this in a semi-traditional fantasy setting w/ some heavy myth-based elements as well.

Though I don't exactly understand what you mean by chess-based war game. And how would it affect RL? Confusing to me.

reminds me of Terry Pratchett's first book. "The Color of Magic".  Where Lady Luck and the other divinites sit down and play a game and reality in Ringworld is changed by what happens on the game board.

the more I think about this idea the more I like it.

I was thinking along the lines of two gods right.

imagine their up in heaven or w/e, where they can look down on Earth (or whatever the place is called).

and they sit down to play a board game, like chess. the move the pieces, interacting with each other (we make the game up, but picture it as chess, it should be a little more complex to add to the story) and as the gods try to outsmart each other, the battle plays out in real life with two opposing armies, the outcome of the battle influenced by the game played by the gods, the soldiers their pawns.

so there will be two sides to the coin. the basic one is the interaction between the two gods, what they think of each other, like I said whether it's friendly competition, hate, or blatant disregard etc. and of course the actual game itself.

then there will be down on earth the battle which takes place between the two armies (one for each god). these armies could be like you say, mythological etc like the Heroes armies, but opposing. and then the battle (war more like it, it doesn't have to be consistent fighting). like one god moves a piece, and on the ground a platoon of soldiers moves forward to attack. it doesn't have to be exactly what they do, like, the people have their own initiative, so like imagine a squad of crusaders are fighting skeletons, and the dark god would use his piece to take the crusaders, causing the skeletons to win the battle. or he could place another piece on the board, of a dragon or something, or resurrect a dead unit, or give his soldiers some special ability.

the ideas not really fully developed, more just the premise. continuity will be an issue that we'll need to talk about though.

sounds similar to what fog said, i dno.

This is just the premise. The story we develop in the writing

I just think it's a cool thought.

hm.

ok

so like

I'm sitting at the, let's call it, chess board. You're sitting opposite. We'll take it as the rules of chess for now, to keep it simple. You move your pawn forward two spaces. In the real world below, an army skeleton soldiers march forwards. I move a knight to take it over. My crusaders ride to meet them in real life, and the outcome is determined by the units, but also by our intervention and help. Your skeletons outnumber and overpower my crusaders, so the knight piece is taken from the board.

But I also like the last idea on the first post alot too.
