So what's the outcome about boars? Are you going to keep them?
I'm still against beholders. I know they were powerful in AoW but aligning them with the gnolls doesn't make any sense... Especially ARCANE beholders... And don't forget, heroes V is pretty much based on heroes III, and in heroes III beholders were at level 3... Perhaps if you'd put them at a little lower level here we could work something out...

As far as I'm concerned Boars are still in, though I'm thinking of changing it to Giant Warthogs, since they suit the plains more. Still it's easier to picture something riding a huge Wild Boar than a Warthog.

I wouldn't mind moving the Beholders or even scrapping the Beholders, but so far there has not been an adaquate replacement.

And if you ment Gnolls instead of Gnomes, what's wrong with giving Gnolls Voodoo ? It's a ritualistic, nature-religion, it rather suits them in my opinion.

Well I think gnolls ARE wolf-based creatures, or at least we can make them that way. They don't have to be hyena-like... Although hyenas are ok too.

I was thinking of having them based on a brown hyena(see first pic) instead of the spotted hyena(second pic) like in HOMMIII. They are more wolflike and generaly cooler and the spotted hyena is overused for Gnoll-designs in my opinion.

also, brown hyenas are more common that spotted ones. they all ganged up on the spotted ones and told them to GTFO of africa

a racial skill could be mobile towns! this is an idea that i have been going on about alot, but it is one that i think would suit a barbarian faction, or beastial for that matter, really well. if they live in the wild and barbaric south, it must be too dangerous to stay in one place for too long, so they must move around to survive. its name could be changed to "migrate", or a similar name.

graphically, the buildings town would be moving over the same lanscape, all begin pulled by big horses or similar creatures and all on wheels. when you have a building begin built, it joines onto the town from somewhere else.

gameplay. the racial skill allows the town to move for a small amount of movement when the hero is inside the town. it would be interesting to have a knight, preparing to storm the town, and it moves away, just out of reach. or alternatively, comes smashing down on his head. the town basically acts like a town in normal combat, but in the actual gameplay, sheilds the hero from the worst of the attacks. but only one hero can be in the town and make it move!

if alc comes up and says "this is familiar" or "deja vu", then i have mentioned this idea before!

A nice idea Bixie, but like I said before I want to wait with the racial skill until I have a good base for this town (creatures + background+hero?). Also being able to move the town might be overpowered.

thats ok. its just when you said Semi perimant settlements, i thought that this might be a good racial skill to go with it.

possible hero, in that case, could be wanderer! gnoll riding on a (insert suitable mount here), looking kinda like a vagabond, big floppy hat, eye patch, dusty cloths, covered in tattoos, various packs on the animal. stuff like that.

Mobile towns wouldn't work. You could put a town to block some passage and no one could pass through it. Not to mention other possible bugs...

think about it, a town is quiet big, so the computer instantly switches to the veiw that the town is able to move around. hey, it might be the longer way round, but you don't get stuck!

You could get stuck in a lot of cases. You enter some area which only has one entrance, the other player builds a town in front of the entrance (which you can't take with that hero since you can't attack it from the back) and you're as stuck as a fly in camel dung. And besides, there's rarely enough room for a town to be built in most maps.

no, no, no, you misunderstand me. the town itself moves!

its on wheels and it moves. it basically acts like a massive suit of armour when an enemy hero attack, it counts as a seige. all the buildings are inside the town, its only graphically that they move.

Ah, I see. Agreed, that's not quite the same as my suggestion. Would be difficult to ballance though. Your hero would never have to leave town, you just move town around on map.

sorry bixie, i dont think its a such a good idea


would you really want to move at about a quarter of your usual gate, without being able to access mines and dwellings or fight neutral creatures on the way, and the only things you can interact with are resources and enemy towns and heroes? its a racial skill for defence and offence, both defending your hero and bringing the whole weight of the town smashing on your enemies heads. used wastefully, it becomes useless, but used to effect, then it becomes a very powerful skill!
