Thanks to:
squires - shield allies
griffins - battledive a stack
paladins - remove a stack
markman are easily the best shooter in the game. Once haven army did their job(killed shooters/dragons/other annoying things) it's time for the opponent to:
a) be shot by marksman till very dead
b) come into precise shot range and try to break through squires/conscripts/something

Succubus tempress are cooler Seduce is very powerfull ability you know

The Titans are of course the most powerfull shooter, but in my deepest heartroots I prefer the Master Hunters. Good attack, two shots instead of one and warding arrow. It's a strong and reliable unit, in fact one of my favourite units in the game.
About the alternative upgrade shooters: No one can say that they are the best shooters since no one have seen them in action. We have just seen them on the paper.

archer : damage too low compared to marksmen. interesting ability.
marksman : a good shooter with an awesome potential which can be hard to exploit. pretty interesting imo.
crossbowman : a killer. definitely helps a lot.
cleric / zealot : nothing special, apart from an amazing durability.
master hunter / arcane archer : they deal insane damage and are protected by treant. they are a pain.
druids : a decent shooter, nothing special
gremlins : nothing special apart from a high initiative
mages : low damage but no range penalty. a bit hard to use.
titan : best shooter in the game, even master hunters deal less damage.
succubus mistress : a chain lightning which doesn't damage your creature(the infernal ones) can't be bad
succubus seducer : you don't buy them for their shooting power, do you?
skeleton archer : nothing special
archlich : nice damage and ability
lich master : very good damage, but I suppose you don't buy them for their shooting power.
assassin : a bit weak but the ability to poison any other shooter before they can act is interesting
witch : a decent shooter
skirmicher : a bit weak, but has some cool abilities
harpooner : the harpoon is an interesting ability
patriarch : full damage on 5 squares
rune keeper : nothing that special it seems
centaur nomad : a mobile and powerful shooter. impressive.
centaur marauder : nothing that special.
cyclops : lol, still better than nothing.
so far my favorite are the titan and the rune patriarch

titans are still large (block them in first round.. no shooting anymore)
patriarch with poor init and poor dmg and attack no win here.
best are arcanes thats sure, about others crossbowman's seems decent as well as masterhunters. succy is still qite good with amazing demonlord attack.
titan is just big beside that i didn't find him very scary.

shooter + large unit = FAIL

yeah but the titan still has the best stats for a shooter
the patriarch has initiative 10 and cross attack.
and the arcane archer is too powerful.
