Graphic Arts Forum?
I've noticed that many members on HC do graphic designs.
Many design creatures that they would like to see in the game, some design logoes and banners, some design signatures, etc.
The only missing thing in HC, is a forum that will be used as a centre for all these graphic works.
HC needs Graphic Arts forum.
In this forum:
-People will be able to ask for specific designs
-designers will be able to show their works, to get critism and ways to improve their works
-designers will be able to cooperate and to create greater things
-designers will be able also to give tips and new ways of designing
-Guides will be advertised, and new members might learn to do graphic works
QPs will be applied for the best graphic works and for useful guilds.
I think that this kind of forum might bring many new peoples to HC. More professional designers might come, and the general level of the graphic works in HC will be much higher.
We can even do a contest of banners to HC, and to advertise some of them, what might bring new people to HC, too.
If you want, we can even do a fresh new design for HC.
I think that Graphic Arts forum can just improve HC, and bring here also another different kind of community.

That might lead to some problems, especially with the QP's for the better drawings, because then people will complain that their drawings are better then the person who got the QP's, etc etc.
I say NO to this idea, because simply there might be complications with it, and there are simply not enough people who do this kind of thing here.
Sure it might lead to more people to come here, but HC is what it is about, Heroes Community, not Graphic Arts or whatever.
If it was, it would be called Graphic Arts Community, and there are already enough forums here as it is, and this wouldn't really add anything special here, maybe some more posts and some drawings, which at this current time you can make a thread about in Tavern or Other Side, so there, we already have what we need right here.
I say NO to this idea.

How about: if 10 Known Heroes or Better say that the person deserves a QP, then they get one.

How about we don't worry about QP's right now. That seems to be all that's on the minds of you guys. Calm it down a notch. What if we could just have a place to show off work. A gallery of sorts. Like a museum. That way it would be for everyone to visit. Our HC artists could submit their work and the other members could post comments on it, critisize, or whatever.

I do not care for the QP's, but if QP's were to be given for drawings, that might be a little weird.
And we already have the specific forums to display our own made work, Other Side or Tavern, I do not think there is a need to make a new forum right now, and if you wanna go to a place for where you can display your work then go here.
This forum is about Heroes of Might and Magic, and real life things, and other games and just having fun, and also to display your own work, but if we were to make a new forum just for that, displaying our own work, it would be rather weird.
If we do that, then why not make a forum where we can display our songs, or maybe just a forum where we can talk just about food, or anything like that, that is kinda the same as what you are asking now Genielord.

Yep, I forgot to add that in my last post.
It would be an empty forum, simply because not everybody here draws or anything like that, and it will not be active enough.
Sure, you can get many other people that really like to draw and get them to join here, but I doubt you could get that many, to make that forum get over 1000 Post.
It just wouldn't work.

Hi,
The idea is good and bad:
1. Why good:
Many members work on graphics (me too) and it will be really good to have something like MM's idea for museum.
2. Why bad:
It will be "full" chaos in this forum - in one forum everyone is posting his artworks for:
Heroes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 + the altar idea + Might and Magic + Modders workshop...
My offer is:
A forum or a web gallery, where only the moderators can post new threads, and the members only to read the topics and post comments, how it works:
For example, the Graphics Genius - "Mister X" post somewhere in the other forums a artwork (image, pics, screen of new creature or hero, created by him) and the best artworks of all in the forums will become
"legendary" and exhibit in the "Golden Museum of HC" or other name. They are posted by the mods (in the "Museum")and then the members can look at them and post comments.
About the QP, when the pics is in the "Museum" the members can vote for the pics and if the vote reach number of "x" votes the author become QP...

I think you can post your artwork in the respective forum, and if it doesn't fit anywhere, maybe you can make a thread in Other Side or Tavern being like "Titan's Art Gallery" and post it there.

I would like to reply to your arguments against this idea:
1. QPs-You said, that people might get QPs for their work and other not. That happens in all the forums, not only about graphic works.
Example: two people do review of faction in the Temple of Ashan. One gets QP from the moderator and other don't. Why? Becuase his work was less interesting/useful/shows experience, etc.
The same with graphic works. Good designer knows to recognize good professinal works. If there's this kind of forum, you'll notice what kind of works will get QPs and what kind won't.
You also said that people complain if their works won't recive QPs. Don't people do that in other forums?
2. Emptiness-I think you are wrong about that. I saw many people here that design, draw, etc.
3. Chaos-Let's take the example of the Temple of Ashan forum. What can we found there? Disscusion about HOMM5, reviews of factions, questions about the campaigns, questions about technical problems, patches, contests about HOMM5, opinions about HOMM5, polls about creatures, and more.
And still, I don't call it chaos, and you don't call it chaos.

Although I can sympathise with many of the opinions given, it does seem a little silly that many HoMM graphics threads end up lumbered with the WoG threads...

On second thoughts, now that I really think of it, I think that this forum idea would be pretty good.
The RL pics thread could be moved to it, and the RL pics Index as well, so that could be easier for members.
Other threads, like the HOMM5 Screenshot Contest could perhaps be moved there, seeing as though that comprises of pictures, and mainly pictures, so that might be good for the forum.
And in that thread, perhaps someone could give out QP's to really awesome pictures, real thought provoking ones, I mean, pictures that just rule.
The QP's could only be given to people that have made their own pictures, and not just copied and pasted into their posted, from some website.
I now have reconsidered this idea,, and I think it could help the community, and just make it better, that is my opinion anyway

Actually whether this idea happens or not I'd like to put together a competition in the coliseum. I have to talk it over with Kooka but If I can get some of our artists here at HC to participate then that would be great.
I figure it would be set up American Idol style with three judges. If you have no idea what American Idol is then go Youtube it.

Seems a pretty good idea to me(though that's not saying much on its own  ). I am not into this kind of stuff but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to make a new forum for that as long as there will be people to watch over it. Creative activities should be encouraged and these in turn can draw some new blood. Even if not it would be a good chance for the existing members to appeal to their artistic nature and exchange ideas
And yes, to be concerned about the qps before it's even started is funny to say the least.
