hard, as usual.. I don't like heroic much.

Although warlocks, wizards and necromancers have a mad advantage on heroic over other castles, especially sylvan and fortress.

For those that don't know, that map has 4 players, so it would be better off with 4.. it even has "external" towns (random towns). so the one who gets them first has a definite advantage.

I usually avoid to play maps with random external towns.. and maps with 4 players I usually play at LAN party, but I didn't play much heroes lately...

me neither, it was my first game since the new year or so..

Well, anyway my opponent had most of the towns under his control, but he still barely managed to win ;} This map is OK since there are no cheesy places here (like dragon utopias)

Slow doesn't work because iquisitors will counter-haste it. And even if you slow one stack.. well, he has a lot of killer-stacks. I'm still trying to figure out the best "tankish" army composition and placing.

Right, I forgot about them. But still, it's 3 slowing stacks vs 1 hasting stack and who knows, next time you may meet 3 stacks of pala and 0 stacks of inquisitors

yeah, good guess. About the missing skill, I had to pick master of storms due to poor level-up choice on level 20.

The things I'd add to my hero:
mana regeneration
erratic mana
dark ritual
secrets of destruction

What about logistics? You didnt have any movement boosting atifacts, so traveling must have been a pain. As for the haven player, what skills he had besides luck and light magic?

Hmm, He had
light magic+some masteries
attack
leadership
luck
and something else

He had a lot of good arties(those which boost initiative of creatures, he had two of them or even more @_@), but fortunately no cloak of sylanna ;P

And I had to drop logistics, unfortunately. I spent most time underground, where warlock faces no penalties, so I could afford that. The extra SP I gained through enlightment was more useful than faster movement.

Probably Logistics, with boots the movement boost is insane: 2500*1.3*1.25 = 4061

Great and entertaining reading, Doomforge! Extremely close combat, as you say, incredible how those 3 points of mana can lose you the game.

I took the liberty to edit the masterpost and remove all the ugly link tags around the pictures - much easier to read this way, hope you don't mind. In the future, when you insert image, either enter only the [ img ] code from Imageshack - don't use the link option - or use the Image option in the kookabar (the second from left in the second row), and enter direct url of image.

Great game DoomForge

I hope you had fun playing it, even if you lost

And, as TheDeath said, I don't like maps with Random External Towns, because it can happen for the enemy to have two of the same towns, while you don't

Congrats Doomforge, a great game of yours, although you lost. If I were at your place, I wouldn't probably be so much close(was it a loud 'k**wa!' when you saw your mana? ), so I won't give you much advice. Save for one - you should have taken guardian angel into consideration since you played against haven . It's one of haven's main 'buttsavers'.

i really like that battles which are very close (that means that the players are similary experienced) and that is a challenge; not something like that when the enemy lost half of his army while you lost it all (that happened to me when i am necromancer... i simply don't know how to use this army). Still nice game Doomforge!

I don't know how you find Haven much more damaging... when Haven doesn't have Avenger and Elven Luck... and also two stacks that are not so damaging (Inquisitors and Squires)
