Well I think the evil factions are cooler - although Academy and Fortress are pretty interesting (Haven and Sylvan are a bit dull imo). I mess around with all of them though, so it doesn't really translate to my gameplaying. Haven is one of the most fun to actually play with, even though the concept isn't too exciting.

Interesting question...
I guess I prefer the good side. I usually play with Academy. I used to play a lot with Sylvan.
On the other hand, Dungeon is great, too.
And I like the renegades a lot. I can't wait to see their new town on GotP mod.

In D&D, I would probably be Lawful Good (in NWN I chose that).
In HoMM 1: My favourite was the Warlock (so I was )
HoMM 2: Wizards (so good )-cause of Titans
HoMM 3: Tower and Rampart (yet again good)- again Titans
HoMM 4: Preserve (although my favourite unit was the Thunderbirds) so neutral-good in this HoMM
HoMM 5: Academy (and again- good )- and yet again Titans

Evil is more interesting in gaming! And i feel sympathy about them cause they are supposed to lose in most campaigns, in all games...

I was playing inferno yesterday and tommorow and I never had such a big fun 
nebiros, luck, attack, sorcery, dest. magic, knowlege
I just made a devastate machine with good damaging spells maybe not the best skills set but what a fun

Definetely good... Haven, Sylvan and Academy are my favourites. I also like Dungeon a little. Necro and Inferno are simply not appealing to me.

H3: mostly Castle and Tower (my favourite: Orrin commanding mixed Castle and Tower troops).
H4: Death (Vampires + Bone Dragons + Vampiric Touch = most of battles without any losses).
H5: Necropolis, Haven and Academy.
In general, I tend to good alignments but I love Necropolis for one reason: usually it is not afraid of fights with neutrals, even opposite: more neutrals = more recruits to a Necro army

Edit: and my favourite character is Gauldoth Half-Dead from HIV - perhaps the only reasonable necromancer who, unlike Sandro, did not want to rule entire world but to enjoy a kingdom of his own.

Warcraft 3, Necrons in Dawn of War and of course Necropolis in Homm 3 and 5.

im kinda something between o.o
in H3 i was Castle and Necropolis player, H4 Life and Death
and H5 Haven and Necropolis  i just have thing for the dead and death but on the other hand, i enjoy playing as the human side aswell, with the awesome angels of course <3
oh and H2 was also the humans and undeads

But....but....necromancers are not evil. Necromancy is neither foul or evil, according to Arantir from Dark Messiah (yeah i would take him over Markal The Wimp any day)
I've been devoted from the idea of being evil since everyone seems to like it these days. Thing is, i'd rather be somewhere in the middle, in the gray area. Academy might be listed as "good" for fighting for harmony but they dont specificly enforce any morals or worship dragons they use rational thinking to solve problems and disputes which gives the best results.

My favorite towns were fortress (H3) and dungeon. Dungeon is evil, and Fortress is more evil then good.

I almost always play as good, however a notable exception was in HOMM2
where the warlock kicked so much butt and the knight was so terrible you pretty much had to play as him.

In D&D, I would be true neutral.
My favourite faction in Homm 2 is Wizard, Homm 3 favourite is Stronghold, and Homm 5 favourite is Inferno. Good, Neutral, Evil. Sum them up, and you have neutral!

I love to be on the evil side. Beeing good is so boooooooooorig! Necropolis are my pergect ideea of evil, not brutes like the demons but refined, immortals and truly evil! I WILL ALLWAYS LOVE THE DARK SIDE!
