I like my dungeon hero to be right for any occasion..
3 skill always(luck,destructive and enlightment)the other can change..
Attack is the first that i choose to sacrifice if the map is big and if my enemy are quick in action and powerful in dark magic..

All the most frustating things in this game have 1 common denominator: randomness
1. ATB mess
Can be a true disaster: Emeralds before Nightmares, Paladins before Emeralds, Grim Raiders before Paladins... and many other.
2. Luck and morale
This is just horrible. It's like throwing a coin(with 5 luck/morale) and even if cursed rings are present or whatever still those effects may trigger with FULL POWER even if it's just 1 luck/morale.
3. Resistance
It's not that bad but resisting puppet master just like that is simply annoying. Still, I like this mechanism because it adds a nice twist in mass spells vs mass spells battle. For example: mass slow makes an army 66% faster(sort of.. (1-0.4)/1 = 1/x) -> x = 1.66(6)) but it can be resisted and will always be fully countered by mass haste.

While all these have made me mad at times I can only say this: What did you expect then? Morale, luck and resistance are traditionally chance-based if you invest on them it may make or break your game as in the case it does not trigger and you could have gotten say attack in its place. Only morale is a sure bet as you start with 2 already but even so it gives half an action, not another as in H2 or H3. If there is something I would change is the percantage per +1 luck/morale to 8% from 10%. Right now it is a bit too much but that's not the place for such a discussion anyway.
For the record I absolutely hate the randon ATB values in the beginning of the combat, it is too random!! Up to +0.25%, are we serious? A marksman can play before a master hunter but in any case who acts first may make all the difference if there are charging units in play...


So far I have seen some entries that I will honour in my first post but I'm always looking for more!

Hey guys, you forgot about the infamous..

train +13 palas/week (even sacrificing other units such as angels), cast antimagic on them and gooo pokemon!

No faction can counter it, excluding a rush ofc and those annoying double-castle maps, which also tend to cripple warlocks a lot.

Edit: since 1.5 is out it belongs to the past anyway, I guess ;p
Edit2: Nope, it's still there. 1.5 did not change anything

You know, some of these strategies are fun to use in the duel editor!
The only problem is that without proper balancing they would be ever more annoying and I haven't quite got the hang of it! I must cut down on my arties and start using lesser tier units.

Using Sorgal i attack the strongest enemy stack with grim riders. Earlier i had seperated my blood furies into several stacks and attack the creature next to the grim riders again ,again ,again and the lizards bite ,bite ,and bite 3 times so and there isn't much left of the enemy's "strongest" stack. Works good with tactics and power of speed

I remember one time the Ai seduced or puppet mastered my seraphs just to cast rightueous might on succubuses and so I couldn't cast divine vengeance.

This small strategy can be used in not so massive battles. All you need is Archangel and Seraph.Send Seraph in as a kamikaze type unit killing everything it sees (Divine Strength helps). This works especially well if your opponent has one or two stacks. After Seraphs die, use Archangels Resurrection(hopefull bringing back most of them) then use Seraph's Divine Vengeance Spell. This should seriously cripple one stack and then you will have both Seraphs and Archangels left to fight with.

i got one for sieges (most effective with strong defence units or dungeons stalkers and blood queens).when battle starts wait until heros turn comes (shooters can try kill enemy shooters or casters) then use earthquake with tremors,having invisible units it annoys enemy player really much,all you need is good defence,earthquake spell,tremors,and stalkers-blood queens (mainly dungeon strategy).

I like having a medium-low army defending the castle and lots of unrecruited creatures. You are far away with the main hero and when your opponent comes close to your castle with most of his army redy to take it you recruit all creatures and destroy him. He wouldn't even know what hited him.

I do something like that exept...I get second hero to have dark magic and basic stuff,then I kill him and put like 1 skeleton warrior to town garrison,when enemy approache's,I rehire the hero,recuit all creature's and rush to him,and he is back in tavern looking for his hero before he knew what happened.

To be frank that can't work against a good opponent. A good hero will defeat even double the army against a weaker one and chances are he'll have 10+ levels difference.
