Yeah, the combination of rts and rpg make spellforce my number one rts game ever. The new expansion also feature crafting items, damn this game is the most perfect hero based rts, not to mention that all the normal units are also a heroes.

Hey,
- Never heard of this game but it looks great. I found some videos on YouTube here . As I can tell you have one Avatar and ( up to ? ) 6 followers. And you can add armies to that too or ?
- One thing that comes to mind , which I really dislike , is it played that way that if you lose a follower you have to start all over again. Or can you hire/find a new or even get him/her ressurected at the local temple ?
- But all in all a cool looking game, which I am going to obtain soon.

at least in the original SF2
you have the Avatar, up to 6 followers and any troops you train in normal RTS manner ...given the powers of shaikan blood, its practically impossible to lose a follower or the Avatar ...maybe if you face someone 20 times stronger

Yeah , basically, you have the lord of hero a.k.a avatar, this avatar can learn many skills of your choice, like diablo or WoW skill system, then you can give many equips of your choice to him/her, you can also craft items for your avatar.
Avatar has followers called heroes, this heroes has a role very similar to many heroes in other strategy games (example: heroes in warcraft 3), the avatar also has the same role, but you can far more freely to customize the avatar, in other words, the avatar has a very rpg system. In skirmish, each avatar can has a maximum of 5 heroes, or maybe even six.
After the heroes, there are normal units, but the skill of the normal units have very big impact on determining your victory, using only avatar and heroes will completely destroy you. Normal units's role are similar to other strategy games normal units, but spellforce normal units's skills have very good special effect that even make high spec computer to lag a little.
Then come the Titan, a very strong unit, even far stronger than the avatar and all his/her followers combined. Each faction can only have one of this unit. In the expansion, Shaikan's Titan is very strong compared to other faction, it has the strongest skill, and the best stats. Their dragon units also have very strong stats and very strong skills compared to other faction, but all the shaikan units are very expensive both in resource cost and population cost.

Yeah, it's one of the shortest spellforce campaign, but dragon storm is my most favourite one. But i hate one thing about spellforce 2, i miss the old resources, like aria, iron, and moonsilver.

SF 2 doesn't have star force, but, it seems that the european version still has it.
The best part of spellforce beside its cool campaign for me is the free game mode that allow us to create avatar and his/her 5 heroes to be used in skirmish or in free game itself, that makes this game very good in multiplayer and replayability, but it takes a lot of time.
Also, the map editor is very good, it's a tie with WC 3 map editor.
Last, it's very true that the shaikan is overpowered, especially in multiplayer skirmish and multiplayer freegame, ofc in singleplayer it's also overpowered, but why bother, since in singleplayer, people plays alone.
