Just a few random creature ideas...

Alright, so the other night, I was pondering about a little story line set post-Tribes of the east, and about some fancy faction that would be the result of a collaboration between what would remain of the beaten demonfaction and the scattered necro faction, resulting in creatures that would combine elements of demons and undead in a powerfull mix.

Mage guide dark and destructo, hero smokes attack and power and craps on defense, bladibla, not very interesting.

So I started thinking about creatures, and had to stop at some point since my mind was swamped with various ideas for tier 5, 6 and 7 creatures, most of which made no sense and didn't fit it, and barely decent ideas for tier 1 - 3 creatures. Well, I had ideas, but I could only imagine gameplay being fairly boring with the low-tier creatures I pictured.

Long story short, there were 2 / 4 creatures I thought interesting enough to post here, for critics, but also as perhaps inspiration for someone who might find use for these ideas and wants to use them or build on them? Whichever...

Picture a modified Pit Fiend and Pit Lord model for this one:

Tier 5: Bargol

Attack:        14
Damage:        15-18
Defense:        16
Health:         72
Speed:          5
Initiative:     7
Shots:          0
Mana:           0
Growth:         3
cost:           700
Specials:       - Demonic
               - Undead
               - Large creature
               - Imune to Fire damage
               - Rage of Fire: Retaliates against ranged attacks with a fireball spell. (basic level) (only twice per combat)

Tier 5 upgr.: Bargol Warlord

Attack:         16
Damage:         17-20
Defense:        18
Health:         90
Speed:          6
Initiative:     9
Shots:          0
Mana:           0
Growth:         3
cost:           950
Specials:       - Demonic
               - Undead
               - Large creature
               - Imune to Fire damage
               - Rage of Fire: Retaliates against ranged attacks with a fireball spell. (advanced level) (only three times per combat)
               - Fire Blast: The square attacked by Bargol Warlords is additionally targetted with a fireball spell (Like Deleb's balista). (advanced level)
------------------------------

Picture a modified Spectral Dragon model for these two:

Tier 7:         Ghost Dragon

Attack:         22
Damage:         25-30
Defense:        23
Health:         150
Speed:          6
Initiative:     9
Shots:          0
Mana:           0
Growth:         1
cost:           3000 + 1 sulfer
Specials:       - Demonic
               - Undead
               - Large creature
               - Flyer
               - Incorperal
               - Minus 1 morale for the enemy

Tier 7 upgr.:   Doom Dragon

Attack:         22
Damage:         25-30
Defense:        26
Health:         180
Speed:          8
Initiative:     9
Shots:          0
Mana:           0
Growth:         1
cost:           4800 + 2 sulfer
Specials:       - Demonic
               - Undead
               - Large creature
               - Flyer
               - Incorperal
               - Minus 1 morale for the enemy
               - Fire entity (Creature does not suffer from fire damage. Instead, half of the fire damage dealt, heals and resurects Doom Dragons)

The reason I posted particularly these two, is because I think they are a clear and decent example of creatures who support each other very well (Like the Archangel and Paladin). Sending out Doom Dragons first before attacking a target adjecent to them with the Bargol Warlords would ensure the fireball effect as well targets the Doom Dragons, thus healing them in the process of dealing damage to enemies.

There might be one little problem though. With the mage guide most probably giving Destructive Magic, and the hero perking on spellpower, there's that small chance of an imba overpowered armagedonnist who will damage all enemy creatures AND heal his own stack of Doom Dragons at the very same time by casting powerfull armageddons. I would have no idea how to fix this xD

Well in any case, use these ideas however you like, for own inspiration or whatever. Comments / critique is welcome, of course.

Me too.

Can you just explain what is Bargol? It reminded me Balrog (the creature from LotR), that can also fit in pretty well in Inferno. The only problem is the lost of the important caster in Inferno.

Incorporeal, however, won't fit with a 7th level creature. It's just too powerful. And it will be quite annoying playing against army with two Incorporeal creatures (Ghost and Ghost Dragon). But if we make the changes of the incorporeality lower, like 20% instead of 50%, it might be good.

They weren't intended as replacements for any faction, actually So don't think that context. I merely said Pitlord and Spectral dragon MODEL to visualize what they could look like, roughly. Not as a replacement for those creatures.

These are just concept ideas. I agree incorperal might be too powerfull, hence I severely reduced the attack / damage output , but it still might be too much. Reducing the chance of missing to 20% might be a good idea. Perhaps also adding an ice weakness ability - damage from ice-based spells being doubled or something.

The names are pure fictional and randomly picked, indeed, as a 'pun' on Balrog and Balor. Plus, it sounds a bit infernal and evil, don't you think ?

Uhm, how, what, who?

I haven't even stated for what these concept ideas should be used...

There's no need - 20% incorporeality is diffinitely enough. It's an average of evading one hit out of every 5 hits. If you want to add some other special abilities, reduce the percentages.

And I find it amusing that you want to replace the creature you use on your avatar.

Genielord: Again, for the THIRD time, these are NOT meant to replace Pit Lords or Spectral Dragons xD

Sooner as neutrals or creatures in a new faction someone might think up.
