That Pao scavenger wyvern nonsense doesn't fit the barbarian town at all, they don't even have blood rage ...

Why should they?  They're wild creatures, not Orcs, so they have no demon blood.

I don't mind the green Wyvern at all. In fact, I actually *like* it that there's at least one creature that breaks the color scheme. If it had been brownish / reddish / yellowish as the other Stronghold units, it would be a rather dull town.

For me I think the wyrvens fit with the orcs just simply on the cosmetic and ferocity level.  I do think the Rocs could of worked, as Alci pointed out, if their background said the Rocs occupy the arrid region that the orcs call home.  It could of also been tied in how the orcs worship "father sky" and they see the Rocs as a symbol of "father sky".  A carrion type bird could of been the alternative upgrade for the Roc instead of the Thunder Bird.

As for the medusa (gorgon) I was waiting for the Naga faction to be announced because I was sure that they were going to appear in their line up.  Oh well.  Let's hope they make appearance right from the start in HoMM6.  I do think that whenever the Medusas make their appearance they should be a high level shooter since the stone gaze ability could be quite powerful.

And as for the arguement of sea vs swamp for the naga my vote is for the sea.  They are worshippers of Shalassa as pointed out which to me means that they should be tied to ocean/sea.  Yeah you have some water in a swamp but its not the same.  It's dirty, dark, and murky.  I just don't envision the worshippers of the dragon of water living in a swamp where their dragon's element is tainted.  It just doesn't line up for me.

I'd say that depends on how you visualize a swamp. I could picture a tropical region rich in flora and fauna with LOTS of water, most of the plants and trees accustomed to surviving in an area usually flooded, with the water being high enough for many a serpentine creature to slither through the woods.

Something like this? Except more bright probably, with a large open lake in the middle where the faction would rise from

But that's a whole different discussion.

I would rather have the naga dwellings submerged underwater whereas stuff like the fort, citadel and castle can be on the surface. lizardmen dwelling, blacksmith and the such also on top. tavern, magic guild and stuff on the bottom. No shipyard because I feel the Naga should be able to traverse the water without the use of a boat.

Hmmm... Pao-Kai lover that hates people who don't like his favorite faction... why does that sound strangely familiar?
Anyway about the Lizards... I'm not really a big friend of a Lizard town because how can Lizards form a TOWN? I mean every race/faction we have so far is an organaized society with intelligent beings that have laws or something like a codex (maybe not inferno but you know what I mean) And now how on earth would Lizards start to group together to form their on town? For me a town needs a "race" or atleast a main group arround which it grows. And Lizard would in my oppinion not be enough to qualify as a race. Ok this is not about being realistic afterall it is a fantasy game so there could be some intelligent Lizard beings who then round up their brothers and sisthers and whatever lizardish there is in Ashan and then form a Lizard town. But I don't like that idea... I find it much more realistic that all faction have units from their race + something they tamed / made allies with / use for their cause / enslaved. Like the griffins in Haven, Hydras in Dungeon, Wyerns ,etc. Ok now you can argue how well the Lizards fit in these factions but So far I don't see any major mistakes. So all in all im not in favor of a lizard town and I prefer the lizards being in a faction that has some relation with them (ok the wyern/pao-kai thing is a biiiit far strected with the orcs but thats just me). Note that a Naga faction with lizards would be perfectly fine again as they would again have a race arround which the town forms.

I think that's quite an arrogant statement to make, claiming they "Belong" in Stronghold. Moreover since H5 is the very first Heroes game where Wyverns have been in Stronghold, it's an arrogant and FALSE statement to make.

@Azagal: When we say Lizardtown we obviously don't mean regular lizards We're talking about humanoid Lizardmen, more than likely paired up with naga. They make a good combo. Face it, many (including me) conceive reptiles as cool creatures, and a reptile town aint a bad idea therefor. Especially if there's a unique theme to be thought out for them.

But again, that's a whole different discussion. The discussion is about where those creatures fit best

Still I haven't seen much comments on wether a Shooter Medusa with the gorgon's death stare ability in whatever town would be a favoured unit or not.

@Daystar: Yes, something like that xD Except more rock / earthy / root like looking instead of metalic. But again, different discussion.

so far i think every creature has fitted their own citys perfectly, Hydras really were good to go with Fortness in H3. Well then they
made hydras to be dungeon from that day on H4 & H5. I dont know it would make sence all reptiles really be in same castle but its fine like this.

Ok I guess I got that one wrong... I thought you guys wanted all the lizards of Ashan in one faction. So tier one gremlin, tier 5 Hydra, tier 6 Pao-Kai something like that and that would have been totally random for me. But ok with a lizardmen race then there would be a theme again and then it would be fine.

wow wow wow slow down I don't don't like reptiles I think there awesome but as I explained above I mistoke your town concept for a gathering of all Ashans reptiles.
