similatrities in between heroes V and real world Countries

Once when I was playing the heroes V game I kind of noticed that there might be some similarities between Heroes V and Real world countries in a way which each Faction might represents a country or a region. This is only my opinion but I think:

Haven = Italy, Germany, France
Inferno = Russia and Eastern Europe
Academy = Middle Eastern counties
Sylvan = North America (native people)
Necropolis = Israel
Fortress = Northern Europe
Dungeon = South America

again this is only my opinionan and if you feel other wise then write your thoughts and why you think it is true or false?

More like similarities between Homm5 and Warhammer.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warhammer_Fantasy#Setting

Haven = Empire = Germany
Sylvan = Wood Elves
Dungeon = Dark Elves
Fortress = Dwarves
Necropolis = Undead
Academy - strange, this one hasn't actually been ripped off, and comes from older HOMM games.

Warhammer races awaiting to be ripped off:
- orcs and goblins,
- lizardmen (Slann)

I guess they won't dare something as blatant as Skavens.

What about the part where the Imps sucked the mana of the russian heroes, and they replied: "you lucky f***ers"

note: no, i wasn't there, but my grand-grand-grand... father met this imp who told him his tale

Well, when I compared these countries I was refering to 1600-1700 AD. so Germany, France and Italy were part of Holy Roman Empire like holy griffen Empire. Secondly I am not comparing Russia to inferno Faction.

I basicly looked at some of the names of the heroes and I found out that they sound close to a language like in Academy Nather ( which I researched and found out that it is a Persian and Arabic Name)

It's not a secret that Academy is based on middle east, Sylvan - on native americans and Haven - on middle age Europe.

But where did you get the rest is a mystery to me...

.well for the fortress faction look at them they live in cold areas so they got to be countries from northern Europe and also there is a part in the game which one of the little guys says: don't blame me blame your mother ( which they have close relations with humans and they look like humans )

.For Undeads well there is a senario in which stroy line goes lke this: which there was a nations fisrt and undead and academy ( two users of the magic ) lived side by side which later on a civil war broke out and these two factions got seperated. this is just like Isreali-Arab conflict. In addition the Undead heroes sign is something that looks like star of david.

.For Inferno and Russia thing they are both red and there tactics are similar

.and finally for dungen I said okay if sylvan is north then there brothers are south American Dungen.

I'm sorry to disapoint you, but you're just looking for things that aren't there. I mean with this kind of logic we could say that Inferno is based on African tribes because it's hot there, or Necropolis is based on the "Sixth Sense" movie because they "see dead people".

Oh and by the way, the Necro symbol is the spider goddess, the Inferno symbol looks somewhat like the Israeli "magen david", but only on the first glance.

Inferno should be Poland. There is so much chaos here that it really fits the atmosphere, plus the country is full of commies ~~ And as Baklava said all demons are commies, that's why they are red.

well Geny about the sign of undead I meant the thing which is shown under the hero. (I do see the spider gods sign ofcourse. Also about the inferno thing I would say that look at this site you will see a map which looks like Europe:
http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://images.heroesofmightandmagic6.com/heroes5/451/deluxe/MAP_ashan.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.heroesofmightandmagic.com/gallery.php%3Fgame%3Dheroes5%26image%3Ddeluxe/MAP_ashan&h=695&w=1000&sz=150&hl=en&start=5&tbnid=XKcDgSff8TCKyM:&tbnh=104&tbnw=149&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dheroes%2B5%2Bmap%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26sa%3DG

this is map of ashan. By carefully observing it you might see what I mean.

and about the dragon guy I agree you can say that too. red cummies = red inferno.

You can’t compare the Heroes 5 factions with real life nations considering how most of the factions borrow from all different types of mythology. You could say that Academy is based on Middle Eastern nations but Gremlins are a modern creation, Gargoyles came to prominence in France, Golems are from Jewish mythology, Rakshasa are from Hindu mythology, and Titans are from Greek mythology.

The philosophies of the different factions are obviously different than the philosophies of real life nations.

The only similarity between the Heroes 5 factions and real life nations is their biome.
Academy = desert = certain Middle Eastern nations, certain parts of Africa, etc.
Fortress = tundra = northern Siberia, Alaska, etc.
Haven = grasslands = North America, steppes of Europe.
Sylvan = rain forest = South America, equatorial Africa, etc.

Dungeon, Inferno and Necropolis can’t really be classified.

well Vicheron, thanks for the background lessons on the creaturs but no matter were in "mythical reality" the creaturs came form it doesn't change the fact that each faction clearly represents a natin or a race.

ROFL Really?
I don't know if you noticed that the entire Griffin dynasty has Russian names (Nicolai, Alexei etc), and a couple of its heroes have Italian names (Vittorio for example), and it has absolutely nothing to do with German people. Empire from Warhammer do represent Germans, but Haven from Heroes doesn't. The dwarves do remind of ancient Germans though (bearded, angry, with axes), but not of medieval ones.
Now, the heroes nations aren't really based on real nations, unlike those from warhammer (empire=germans, lizardmen=aztecs, kislev=russians, ogres=mongols, wood elves=celts, chaos=vikings, tomb kings=egyptians, high elves=gay people...). Even the warhammer world map reminds on the real Earth.

i see it as

haven= holy roman empire (i agree) or... joan of arc france (they both have female leaders and are fighting off a foriegn threat)
inferno= no idea, possibly babylonian, where all the bad stuff comes from, apparently.
nerco= egypt/aztec feel, certianly, also the possibly of isreal comes into it.
dungeon= hmmm... i say some tribe that declared independence from the rest. no idea.
fortress= SCOTTISH!!!! HAVE YOU SEEN THE KILTS!!!!!
slyvan= a mix of native american and celtic, as celts had druids and wardancers.
academy= arabian nights.
edit:
bastion= Mongols

What we need to define here is what characteristics and themes of nations and teams in the game are valid comparisons.
Right now people are tossing stuff about based on gut feelings.

For instance i think the Israel - Necropolis comparison is invalid, political situations etc. are an ever changing factor, not something that defines a nation.
If internal conflics and schisms are a valid factor then almost any european country will fit the picture.

For comparison, I think the holy catholics (southern europe) and the terribly necropolitan protestants (northern europe(no offense anyone )) work much better.

Catholics - Smacking up people who disagree.
Protestants - Hiding in the shadows, acting all cult like.

Of course, since that is just a political situation we can see that the comparison only works when made at a certain point in the timeline.

...

I think it'd be better to rather look at the defining characteristics of the nationalities instead of their history.

I think Russia and Necropolis fit eachother well.
Despite all it's revolutions in time, Russia has most of the time been an oligarchy (sp?), a land ruled by a priviledged few.
Also, thanks to the schisms in the early christian church, Russia has been rather secluded for most of the time, and missed a lot of the cultural and technological development of the western countries, only to later be shut behind the iron "curtain" (you call it that? dunno).

This compared to the countless skeletons and zombies ruled by an elite of necromancers etc. and the overall less than welcoming nature of the faction...

Then again, i hear the russian PEOPLE tend to be rather warm and kind, if maybe somewhat murderous and assasinational as well... Hmm...

This is giving me a heaadache... I think i'll go watch TV...
