MOD for more balanced heroes

Last update: 09.03.2008

Many starting heroes are really too good compared to the others. That's very important in online-game. This MOD is here to balance heroes in increasing the never played and some minor changes for several others.

You can download the MOD HERE. (To put in the "user mods" folder.)

0) All factions :
Hero army generation for non-specialists of Tiers 1, 2 and 3 creatures: more tiers 3:
Hero army generation :

Nice list. Some thoughts:

Sorgal : - battle frenzy + advanced Attack

Used to be crappy but now the good attack abilities come from battle frenzy so..

Klaus : - basic Attack + advanced Training

He's not too strong early, why take attack from him?

Alastor : - basic Sorcery - Mana regeneration + basic Dark magic + Consume corpse

Not sorcery but dark? That's a guaranteed mass confusion which too valuable to be able to get early.

Nymus : - basic Luck - Magic resistance + basic Leadership + advanced Gating

Or you could give him soldier's luck.

Wyngaal : - Tactic - basic Attack + basic Destructive magic + Snipe dead

Destructive of all skills?

Yes, Vitality is very good but you can gain it during the game, without problem. I propose Leadership (2% for a Wizard) to can gain Artificial Glory (if we want of course).

Yes, it's right...just that we have now the choice to avoid it.

I forget Knight don't have anymore Retribution in TotE (I play sometimes with HoF, not always TotE). I just hope we will see "other" Klaus that Attack+Leadership+Retribution.

Jezebeth has already Sorcery, so I change Alastor. His speciality is useless without Master of Mind (and Dark Magic isn't insured: only 8%). If that's too powerful I can supress Consume Corpse.

That's an other possibility, yes. I just want give an uncommon skill (Leadership: 2% pour a Demon Lord) and the possibility to gain Gate Master with one Demon Lord (Nymus is still the gating specialist).

Of course knights have retribution, it's just a bit harder to get early with battle frenzy as a prerequisite.

Sorry for the mistake. I don't know why for me Retribution is in the Leadership list, not in the Attack list ...and when  I have watched it, of course there's no Retribution in Leadership skill .

The game dont need to be changed in the part for starting heroes. Now Wangaal and Deleb are balanced, and if the both players agree - there is no problem.  Actually, the luck is important,so a small advantage in the starting heroes is almost nothing.

That's not my opinion. We can argue about the Wingaal balance, I see one of the best speciality + one unfrequent skill (Attack) for a Ranger.

But there're too never used heroes IMO, and your "small advantage" can be added with others. Watch the specialists of creatures: they have no less than 3 starting stacks. Even in week 2, 3 or 4, gain ~2 weekly growth (or 1 with Castle) of tiers 1, 2 or 3 is a big advantage too.

Zenithale: Its your "subjective" view for balance. For example i don't like changes for Razzak. Why you think academy need so much Leadership?
I think most heroes are good enough (if you know how to use them)and no need any mods for improve them.

Here is my subjective view of balance:

First of all, DON'T NERF ANY HERO.

Improve these:

Sylvan:

Dirael: Give her another summoning spell. Like Phantom Forces, or  Summon Hive(she is the swarm queen after all)

Gilraen: Maybe Advanced Leadership in stead, with a easy path to battle commander.

Talanar: I don't know about this one. The ability is what truly breaks him, without having much potential for improvement.

Fortress:

Svea: Give her Chain Lightning too?

Dungeon:

Yrbeth: Change Dark with summoning, and maybe make her gain much more mana from dark ritual (like 75 mana at level 15 or so)(if it can be moded)

Sorgal: Yeah... not much we can do here. More starting raiders perhaps(if possible)

Kythra: Recruitment instead of Estates.

Academy:

Faiz: Give him Decay as a spell too. He could in theory creep with these.

Necro:

Zoltan: how about Intelligence, or Adv. Enlighment.

Kaspar: All warmachines on him could make him an imba rusher.

Vladimir: a quicker way to haunted mines could be better.(Maybe: Basic Necromancy, Basic Leadership, Herald of Death, Basic Summoning - I know it's 4 of them...)  

Inferno:

Grawl: How about Advanced Gating and Hell Fire,

Alastor: Basic Gating, Advanced Dark Magic.

Jezebeth: Basic Gating, Mark of the Damned , Basic Attack
        or Alternatively: Basic Gating, Basic Attack, Archery.


Stronghold:

The wyvern tamer: one starting Pao kai, or Foul Wyvern could be really good early on.

I welcome changes that makes perfect sense in terms of the hero special - thus, giving the Confusion specialist Dark Magic is valid in my oppinion.

Also, giving the golem specialist Leadership makes sense, because he might wanna aim for March Of The Golems. Golem specialist is not the best speciality anyway, so giving him a rare skill is fine.

I don't know but in French community of ArchangelCastle several games were played with this MOD.
