Poll Question:
What's your opinion on WoG Commanders?

Title says it all: I'm interested about everyone opinion about this WoG feature. My opinion is:

Pros - Interesting, new feature that expands a battle little bit and,as always, new options are welcome. They even have their own set of artifact's and IMO they are suppose to be fighting "heroes"

Cons - Awfully weak in the begging, they are practically useless(except Undead one off course) while later become unstoppable killing machines (I had a commander that killed 15 Hell Hydras with one blow,he stroke twice AND had death stare X_x ).Their skills are crappy as well (except Undead one's  off course) you should get mass effect at grand master level...

How about everyone else?

Responses:
I like this feature,it is good as it is
Great idea, but it could and should be edited a bit
I don't like it one bit, game would be better without it

i think random maps wil be easier with this option. since i always have 1 strong hero, his commander gets very strong too. but the computer always keeps all the power spread over several heroes. that way, i cannot be beaten easily.

Will never seen a commander to kill 15 Hell Hydra when other options that increase difficulty(like neutral units bonuses and stack growth) are on.

Only Death Stare can do that, but in 3.59 Death Stare will have some adjustments.

P.S Commander will have new features in 3.59 because we are planning some.

Well, with an Ogre Leader or a Hierophant adding, like, 50 ballistas or first aid tents to my army, I couldn't care less about casting stone skin or cure
I just think that some of them look sort of crappy. But they're undoubtedly fun.

That's one of the funniest things ever: what do the OGRES have with war machines? I mean skills for commanders are really silly:

Paladin
Skill - Learning (Why?Is he that smart?)
Magic - Cure (Fitting, but totally useless because of First Aid Tent)
Looks - Quite alright, actually, one of the coolest commanders

Hierophant
Skill  - More F.A. Tents (could make sense...btw name has nothing to do with Elves)
Magic - Shield (this is ok,I guess, but without mass effect rather useless after few turns)
Looks - Don't know about anybody else, but to me it looks...Eh not Ramparty...

Succubus
Skill - Interesting but totally useless against players
Magic - Fire Shield (finally something useful! Too bad Inferno is crappy and never play with them)
Looks - Quite ok,IMO

Souleater
Skill - Undead (not that interesting but still it's one of the best)
Magic - Animate Dead (...I mean really...If they hadn't disabled it for high lvl units it would have been ridiculous. Now it's just IMBA)
Looks -

Brute
Skill - Soul Merchant (Good skills but TOTALLY unfitting for a minotaur. Is he a vulture?)
Magic - Bloodlust (If I remember well,I never use spells with him)
Looks - (he has a animation where he scratches his but...)

Temple Guardian
Skill - Mana Restore (This skill is awfully useful but unexplainable...How s/he restores mana? It's just made to pump-up mana of already mana-tank wizards)
Magic - Precision (Again, why? Because there are 3 shooters? C'mon...)
Looks - Like a Schwarzenegger in dress

Shaman
Skill - Combat Something (Shaman + Staff = Combat and Defense bonus???)
Magic - Haste (Cool, but with no mass version...)
Looks - Extremely good,in fact the best looking of them all, just it's unfitting (Shaman + Staff = Combat and Defense bonus???)

Astral Spirit
Skill - Chase away my army (No Comment...)
Magic - Counter Strike (could be useful)
Looks - Good

Ogre Leader
Skills - War Machines (Extremely useful, but he's an ogre...)
Magic - Stone Skin (no point)
Looks - very good

I know I sound rather negative,but it's very late and I'm tired
Despite many mistakes I mentioned,I really like commanders, they have great potential and are fun to play with...
@BAD - Can I ask you some questions via HCM about WoG? Oh,and here a screen of my "hydra slayer" commander

Actually there is a limit of 40-45 hp (if I remember correctly). So in practice it doesn't work on ace vampires and liches.

So it doesn't get any stronger? I've noticed that it doesn't work on Liches and the Vampires don't really need this spell but if I remember correctly you raise more skeletons as you lvl up so it has to be stronger, right?

Edited by Ste at 13:15, 13 Nov 2007.

The limit is about the health of a single unit. This means that if you can reanimate 200 hp worth of creatures you can raise 33 skeletons(6hp), 10 zombies(20hp), 6 vampires(30hp), and no liches, black knights or dragons. Basicly you can't use animate on high level creatures which is what you said you can.

I think commanders are good idea, but they should have more secondory skills, and spells like H4 heroes.

I guess we misunderstood each other I meant that the skill gets weaker as your units get better. At first you can animate liches and after that you can't animate even vampires.

The Souleater's is pretty bad.  It cannot animate high levels and even really late in the game it isn't animating hardly anything.  The Heirophant with a hero like Gem is infinitely better than a Souleater.  I'd also take a Temple Guardian and a Brute before the Necrop commander.  Hell, even the learning of the Paladin is better.  I think the ability to send a fraction of my army away before battle may be the best though.  At any rate, they can all be ultra-swift, flying, champion-jousting, death-staring, paralyzing, regenerating, Azure-dragon-hit-point-having terrors that can be revived if lost in battle for a fee drastically lower than what it'd be worth.

The Souleater is pretty good early in the game though. When she has advanced or expert magic skill her skill is enough to keep your skeletons/zombies/vampires alive(or undead? ) in fights with neutrals.

The programming for the WoG commanders need to be edited a bit guys! U know after u finished wogifying the map, the pictures sometimes goes wrong and a incomplete message shows up when u are not using the full screen mode. Also, the script for wogification message/rules need to be edited also and they have the same problem.

P.S.
When u click on a commander from a hero's screen, (not full screen mode), you click on exit on the right top of the window, the window won't close.

High level ogre leader+Expert Ballistics skill=SUDDEN DEATH. He looks very good, although i secretly wish he had an Ogre`s Club instead of that wooden-looking sword...
Souleater looks pretty bad.
I think whoever made this script acciedantly swapped gnoll mage skills with Paladin, since bonus to attack and defense suits Paladin pretty well. I always take double strike only because of his look...
Gnoll Mage is good. A little mishap is skills and sounds(does he really scream like mage when hurt?).
Brute is good, but...he is TOO TALL AND WEAK-LOOKING for a minotaur. I didn`t really worry about his skill.
Succubus is just useless. Fire Shield is good, but still, their skill is USELESS.
Temple Guardian is definitely not-Tower looking. And that`s why i don`t know, why do they regenerate mana to the hero...
Astral Spirit is good-looking, but his ability is useless too. Don`t forget to take Speed and Flying as abilities or say that it hurts your eyes...
