Hey Fiur!

I love your maps...Well, at least the one that I've played so far, which is Master of Disguise. The only problem is that it still takes awhile to load when I'm playing against Elvin, and I have to switch it in and out of my maps folder because of the mods

But on topic now, I guess Mirror Map is a map where everything is equal and pretty much the same on either side. I don't really care too much about it being exactly the same...but balance is always good. So in short, as long as one side doesn't have an obvious advantage, I think any map you make would be great!

Ty for your reply and I got good news for you...    I've worked alot on an 1.6 version of (MoD, Master of Disguise)... and this version will not mess up anything!!    (you can have it in your folder and still play regular maps...!
(I've even made an custom script on the witch hut next to town, it will always give you logistics... but there is an minor "Bug" ... the "message box" does'nt show's...... but somethimes it does....
(in single player it works fine... thanx alot to Neckie for the script.....!!!
another thing... I've also made an "simple" version without most of the visual effects for "low" end computers....

Good to know I kinda like mirror maps, if nothing else they give equal opportunity.

I recently requested for a mirror map for ToTE, so should be kinda obvious what I think.   Personally I think an even start is better.

Well I think one of the games challanges is to meet those random creeps. Afterall your game depends on how good you master them and if you would have all the same creeps I don't think it would solve the problem of uneven starts as some faction do better against certain creeps than others (for example Dungeon against slow walkers). But since I don't play ToH (yet) I will not vote.

I like randomness and "unmirrorness" as long as it it planned to be balanced. Balance is the key. However, a good map is good anyway, mirror or not, it is just that not mirrored maps have a bit more playability to them in my book, as you can plan/enjoy the map a bit differently from side to side. That doesnt count for much if you play the map 1-5 times, but maybe if playing the same map 5+ times.

Anyway - I look forward to it Fiur! I guess a mirror map could be a nice change from FK and MoD also for you as a mapmaker, then we have the full spectrum

Couldn't he make a mirror map with random LVL-X creatures on each side? So there is still the element of un-predicatability...but you won't be fighting lvl 7's to get your wood mine (not like that would ever happen), but you get my point. As long as it has balance, that's key..otherwise...variety is always nice!

Hi,

- Well I like mirror maps too, to a certain point. Mirror map(s) always is in danger of becomming extinct at a quicker pace than other maps, and why ? Simply because some players ( not dizzing anyone here ! ) likes to map those out, knowing exactly what to do on a certain day in a certain week ... and soon it's down to ; If you can't make the final break at xx day in xx week , your done for.

- That aside, I embrase the willingness from ( in this case, Fiur - Madman from the North ) to make a new, so us, that likes mirrored maps, have a vide variety of 'em at least Get going,Fiur, surprise us once again

yer kiddin right?

firstly almost every map every created for toh has been a mirror map in one form or another. to insure balanced play and at least a chance at a fair tourney game the maps that are made by map makers need to be mirror maps. that's not to say they need to look or run exactly the same on both sides but they do need very exacting standards of balance or you won't have a fair match on it. this doesn't mean there's anything wrong with randoms, on the contrary, in playing randoms both players except a certain amount of uneven play. while this benefits one player over the other it's also a random event that could favour either player making it a fair situation. but if map makers started making uneven maps after a few times played most players would want to play which ever side had the advantage. maps like this would not receive much play except from dishonourable players taking advantage of noobs. hence the reason the map council carefully screens maps for balance to prevent this from happening. I hate to say it but back in the day i zonked a few new players on maps that weren't  exactly fair. any vets remember the original small battlefest map that JB239 created ? it was a funny map because it wasn't in any way unbalanced, so it slipped by the map council. only thing was it had massive monster groups susceptible to diplo and two alrdy built comp towns. if you even thought about leaving yer town to do anything normally one o these nasty comps would show up and suicide yer @$$. won a few that way before toh caught on and banned the map, cool thing was although the map was banned the concept of battlefest was born and spawned a whole new way of playing homm3 for a while. i used to love those fest tourneys.  anyways, make yer mirror maps Fiur. ilook forward to trying them out

The best map must not be simetric but equal. To have 2-3-4 possible connections, with fastest meeting in 3th week.  To have enouth creatures for 3 months game. To be equal for all races, to have alot kinds of strategy there.

Mirror map is good ideea for a map esp. giving heroes equal advantage from the begining. And we have good examples for that: BFH, Hourglass, Dueblo, which are very played maps, if you look on stats of players on toh.
