Cohesiveness: 7/10 (creatures, theme and hero fit well together, it only lacks some background information on how three different races manage to live together in harmony, I can't really say if the faction fits in the game or is over- or underpowered because I don't know how the other factions will be and look like with this new system of 3 creatures per tier)
Imagination: 15/15 (I just like the idea and theme of the faction and the originality of the creatures)
Back story: 2/10 (Am I blinded by the light elves or is there really no back story apart from some little aspects in the creature descriptions?)
Battle facets: 8/10 (much freedom for the player, but specialisation in summoning makes it quite unique, a bit creature rebalance - e.g. frost eagles lack good abilities compared to other tier 7 creatures - and it will be almost perfect)
Discretionary: 1/5 (for idea and innovation)

Cohesiveness 8/10: not the most uncohesive I've seen, but rather than not going along well, these creatures go along well but are too vague for this to matter.
Imagination 12/15: it doesn't help creativity that almost every creature we've seen was already present in the HoMM universe, but on the opposite hand developing each one with abilites and creating the pictures was a lot work to do.
Back story 4/10: uhm... there isn't one. Once again, like for the Citadel, it's easy to connect the Darkwood to the HoMM universe, so you don't get a 0/10.
Battle facets 7/10: having to chose between three lines of developement is an interesting trait, and the fact that more variety is allowed later is even more. But the fun ends there. There is nothing like a trademark gameplay, or some mentions of strenght&weaknesses, or balance. This ruins the gameplay part.
Discretionary 5/5: I like the theme and I see some effort with it, so here's a full score. This faction, however, feels uncompleted and it's a pity.
Overall 36/50

My Rate about The Darkwood
Cohasiveness: 8/10 points (Too many "real" creatures like Wolves, Panthers or Ravens. But the other creatures are good and well-described.)
Imagination: 13/15 points (Nice idea and good abilities, althoug many of them could be see in HOMM already. You could have created new abilites (or at least more).)
Back Story: 3/10 points (A good start, which has been destroyed by no continuing.)
Battle Facets: 8/10 points (No upgrade could be fun, because I liked that, as I had to choose between two creatures. But I don't like to choose from three.)
Discretionary: 3/5 points (Good racial ability, main idea and a well started stroy.)
Overall: 35/50 points

Cohesiveness 6/10: most creatures are pretty cohesive with the other ones but we lack informations.
Imagination 10/15: for finding 21 different creatures. apart from that I don't see much originality.
Back story 5/10: I don't see a story, but the faction would easily fit in homm universe.
Battle facets 6/10: it really misses originality and a specific fighting style. also some creatures may be too strong for their level. but the amount of special abilities makes it look fun enough to play.
Discretionary 5/5: especially for the 21 creatures.
Overall 32/50

Cohesiveness: 8 / 10
Imagination/creativity/originality/wow factor: 13 / 15 - Definitely creative. The only hole of imagination here is a lack of frightening beasts in the first tiers. Golemcrafter said it well, that there are too many realistic creatures, while this is a magical game.
Back story: 5 / 10 - no story, but it is suitable to HOMM.
Battle facets: 7 / 10 - Creature abilities could be much more original. Most of the new abilities are H5 abilities with custom names for the specific creature.
Discretionary: 4 / 5 - For the interesting creatures' system. On a different matter, you wrote: "Preferred stats: Defense and Knowledge" Well, those heroes in the Darkwood sound like ones that would ambush behind a tree, attacking innocent creatures that passby. Therefore, attack is a better choise to be the main primary skill.
Overall Score: 37

@ GenieLord
Quote: Back story: 5 / 10 - no story, but it is suitable to HOMM.
Not that I am the one to complain, I know very well about the weaknesses of my own faction, but why does "no story" get 5 points whereas my faction with at least some mentions of bigger events get only 4 from you? Have I failed in making my faction suitable to HOMM? I don't ask this to get a higher score but to understand my ratings better, to learn and to improve next time.

I usually devide that category into two ones:
History of the faction - 5 points
Suitablity to HOMM - 5 points.
Orfinn got 5 points in the second part. However, you would get 5 points as well, so you have a point here. Your mark has been changed, Snatch.

Tobius's revised rating
The Darkwood
Cohesiveness(2+2)=4 There's no binding factor for all the different units in your description and I miss a scheme of what the other factions should look like (would this be the only wood faction?)
Imagination(3+3+1)=7 Not really creative apart from the creature system, this also effects the creatures themselves (problem: wolves and co aren't original for me)
Back Story(1+0)=1 There's almost no background...
Battle Facets(5+2)=7 The choice between the creatures seems to be interesting and guarantees a great variety, also the racial is not bad, but balancing would be a really big problem
Discretionary: +1 for the creature system
Total Score=20
How I graded these:
Cohesiveness (Internal Coherence [1-5]+HoMM Compatibility [1-5])
Imagination (Creativity [1-5]+Innovations [1-5]+Originality[1-5])
Back Story (How well it expands on one of the HoMM universes [1-5]+How interesting it was to me [1-5])
Battle Facets (Variety [1-5]+Inventive Aspects [1-5])
Discretionary (Bonus for exceptional efforts[1-5])

This town has amazing potential, but (and I really hate to say this) needs a bit more polishing. I tend to agree with Genielord, but with a little personal touch in there.
Cohesiveness: 8/10 I think the vast number of choices are great, but it can harm the cohesivness as well. Could make it hard to make a team that would work well together. Not that that is a bad thing, but this is Cohesiveness we are talking about.
Inventiveness: 15/15 On the other hand, the same thing that detracts from Cohesiveness actually really helps in Inventiveness. It needs a bit of work, but the idea is amazing. Hope after the contest you continue with this faction.
Background: 3/10 Sorry, but while it does tie in nicely to Homm I would expect a bit more from you. I know grading on a curve stinks, but everything I've seen from you suggests you could have done more.
Battle: 8/10 Ok again what hurt in cohesiveness bumped up battle. The strategic possibilites are mind boggling.
Discretionary: 4/5 Great idea, good execution, but there are parts you could have done better with. (ok you can lynch me now )
38/50.

Cohesiveness:6/10

Back story: 7/10
Battle facets: 7/10 Nothing exceptional really jumped out at me innovation wise...
Discretionary:3/5
21 different creatures is too many. Why? I don't know, it just is.
The dark dukes and twilight dragons are cool ideas but they just don't mesh with the rest of the menagerie.
On the positive side you could dissassemble this faction into an entire video game I think.

Cohesiveness: 7 – although most aspects seem to fit, there isn’t much history or backstory to tell if the whole thing links…
Imagination/creativity/originality/wow factor: 10 – some kool troops
Back story: 3 – very little backstory given
Battle facets: 7 – too many troops to choose from!, although the basic balance of flyers/shooters/etc could be there. Some fun creatures.
Discretionary: 3
