Demons of Ashan

Someone, sometime ago asked why were demons so pathetic, they were the children of Urgash after all...
I have reached the one conclusion- They are so weak becasue:
1. Their master is enslaved and weaken badly
2. They are etheral beings from the place that in mortal reality doesn't exist and they need to create an embodiment fo themselves.

What do you think about it? Have you ever been considering this?
(Yes I know, Nival wanted to find balance in factions, but I'm asking for a mythological explanation...)

Yes,you are right about that.Demons in ashan are really weak in that case but well there are more than those factos affecting it.

In homm V the demons are not balanced good enough.About the mythological side,I do not think it matter that they are imprissioned with their master but more that they can not stay permanently in the ethereal world. But its crappy anyway,in hommV,the initial release, the game protagonists defeated Kha Beleth the demon sovereign. Now its a bit problematic cuz he is like a half-god and was defeated in the demon capital-hell.Now should not the demons get more power cuz they are at their home and place?

I can really not think of another reason (nor do I think there is any other) aside from Nivals' balancing decisions.

The demons weak? They're weak in the human world becuase they cannot exist in the human world. They weren't meant to. In the Eclipses, the gates to Sheogh open and they can try to take over the human realm. They never succeeded, though. They cam close in Isabel's War and the Pretender's Reign. Kha-Beleth was defeated, but he isn't dead. He just is very pathetic now. He helped create the demon Messiah inside Isabel. He ripped her memory and spirit from her, so that the Messiah Could take birth in the form of Biara. Wait, now I'm confused. How'd Biara end up the Pretender if Agrael killed her in front of Tieru? Now I need Cepheus.

Maybe Demons cannot be killed?
Maybe their embodiments is only dead but their soul is free to enter another one?

They seem pretty corporeal in Ashan if you ask me. Also balance-wise they are pretty decent, the demons are just creations of Urgash. Just as man is a creation of God according to Christian belief.

About the sovereign he was damn powerful but he was simultaneously attacked by four powerful heroes which was totally unexpected. You could say that he did not have the time to gather his full forces.

Biara wasen't killed by Agreal in the front of Tieru. It was the heart of the Griffin. The heart is made to send bak the demons to Sheogh, not kill them. Tieru said it when Agreal thought that he killed Biara with the heart of the griffin

The Heart wouldn't work on Kha-Beleth since firstly he rarely leaves Sheogh, and secondly he's no ordinary Demon so he's probably immune to its effect anyway.

Using the Heart on a Demon only banishes them back to Sheogh, nothing more.  If a Demon is killed in Ashan or in Sheogh, they die permanently, as in the case of Biara.

I thougt he was imprisoned in sheogh. that means he can't get out but he can send other demons to do his dirty work.

and another thng in a single player game in hammers of fate you play as veyer and he had heard from marbas who heard from alastor (or was it grok) that the sovereign had died and veyer thereby wanted to take his place

I think that the Heart of the Griffin teleports a demon nerby Ur-Hekel (demon capitol) as it did to the four heroes in the last mission in HoMMV.

Ah, its all becoming clearer. And yes, Kha-Beleth has almost never left Sheogh. He's the Sovereign of Urgash's children. He can break through the gates of Sheogh during the Eclipses, thus letting demons exist in the Human world for some time. However, since the Demon Messiah was made with both human and demon blood, she could stay forever in the Human world. The spawns of Urgash can't. They are real in human world, but diminish. Upon being defeated, they retreat back through the gates safely to Sheogh. And I do remember the quote Tieru made about the demons being banished back to Sheogh. And I never knew the Heart of the Griffin worked that way. Wait, didn't Veyer get banished back to Sheogh via the Heart of the Griffin? Why is he dead? I don't think he is. Just, not important anymore. And how long can nondemons exist in Sheogh?

OK, but on the one of the first movies there is that Nicolai kills demons with the griffin heart...
So my hypothesis about embodiments seems true...
