If a question is pretty simple, but it tricks you into believing that it's a trick question, is it a trick question?

That's up to the person who asked it. I sometimes ask something simple with the intention of messing with someone but if I am serious and his mind goes elsewhere then it is his mind that plays the trick, not me.

I've seen many times ridiculous or strange ideas that I thought were going nowhere, but they gave me a glimpse from a different perspective and sometimes I got brilliant ideas out of them.

There is no such thing as a stupid question, there are only stupid answers.
And as people have already said: it depends on the fact whether you ask a simple question with the intention of tricking someone or if the person tricks itself.

That depends
If a friend asks you - than it's just a simple question
but if a shrink or something asks you
than it is a trick question

I guess baklava gets the credit for that, yeah  And personally I believe there are stupid questions, it's all in the context.
