Gary Gygax
I know a lot of people probably don't know him, but to some he is more famous than any actor, actress, billionaire, etc could ever be.
He will be missed. His influence in the world of roleplaying games is the stuff of legands.

Rest in peace. I never played pen and paper but his work can't but be recognized. Some of the best games I have played have the D&D stamp on them.

Eh, he was the father of RPG's, the many things that came out of DnD...
Everything from Diablo, to World of Warcraft, to Everquest, and even Runescape owes it existance to him.
I myself just found out who he was yesterday when he was mentioned on vent in a raid...but /salute

His passing is unfortunate. He brought a lot of joy to people through his creations. A lot of us have played truly excellant games inspired by D&D and for that, we are indebted to Gygax. I'm sure most of us will never forget seeing Sarevok break down a door and throw a guy off a roof, the main menu music to Baldur's Gate 2, or watching the Nameless One unravel the mysteries of his existence. Such great memories we owe to the imagingation of Mr. Gygax.

Just wanted to know how many on here have a special bond with one of the most creative minds ever, in regards to his specialty. Old and young gamers alike know and can appreciate the love for D & D. It has been around for years and has only increased in creativity and popularity.
Just wanted to post something in his memory; I for one played with my older brother and since this is one of the only grand memories I have of him, it especially broke my heart.

My brother (the one now suffering from cancer) was the one who got me into D&D. Have some very wonderful memories, and it can be attributed to two people specifically. My brother, and Gary Gygax. Many argued that the creatures were 'borrowed' from myths and legands and for the most part that is correct. He, however, created the system in which you could interact with them, even if only in your mind.

He is the reason for everything magical! Without his creations, our world would be pretty dull. No magic, no inspiring fantasy and so on...
May he rest in the great beyond and be reborn to a person that will carry on and open most closed, arrogant minds to the plane of fantasy.

HoMM would indeed not exist if it were not for him. HoMM has borrowed many elements off D&D, which pretty much spawned Fantasy in its current form.
