Bixgames: Commander and trooper

Rioght, i've seen someone else make a game, so I'm joining in!

Name: Commander and Trooper
Type: RTS/Third-person shooter
Genre: Fantasy
Tagline: one man or one mind.
platform: PC

Basic game play: Essentially, its a cross between the total war series and Savage. You start off with a vast army of people and then you command them to do battle. Like the total war series, there is no obvious building section, and instead you are just launched into the combat scenario.

this is where it gets interesting, you can either play as the commander, and be able to look down and play the game in an RTS way, or as the trooper, where you go into the mind of an avatar on the field and defeat the enemy third person shooter style. depending on how you play it, you will be rewarded either way, so for fighting as a trooper, you get a reward for surviving a battle, whilst as a commander you get less money.

with the reward, you can by stuff, either for yourself (Trooper) or for your capital city (Commander). This will allow you to fare better in the game, either attacking or defending.

the Campaign is very much a risk based strategy, you have a small section of land to start with, and then you fight a battle over the next one and continue through the land, gaining reinforcements and resources which can be posted back to your City or army. This campaign is continuous, even if you choose to use your Trooper.

Troops, for the RTS player, can be created depending on what you need. Mortal units need to be trained from barracks, which your able to set up in the lands you capture, Whilst siege units are a available at siege workshops which can be set up in special locations, the same with spell caster units. Magical units are summonable onto the battlefield, though these take time and are not able to carry over to the next battle, unless you're trooper is able to perform a blood bond.

For the Third person shooter player, almost all the weapons that you find are useful and have a different play-style to fight with, as well as being able to hire special weapons from the barracks and from the capital. Also, all siege weapons are controllable, along with Magical units, if you perform a blood bond.

Game world

in the game, you fight over the world of Inanas. This is a fantasy world, but with some slight twists. you get to play as four different factions, the empire, the refuge, the union and the pact, each with three different races that you can choose to use more or less of when you are choosing your army. They all have their own different styles of magic and own different capital cities, and own culture behind them.

the Empire.
the empire was forged by two races to settle their differences over the magic they used. before long, they were joined by the third race, and another one is pledging allegiance as the war continues. they take up the west of the continent of Inanas.

Animas
Animas are a race of light-blessed warriors. They are tall, muscular, with horns coming out of their skulls, hooves and tails, with blue skin. The Animas homeland was destroyed by the demons, which they fled. They escaped with the help of the angels. they're dress is similar to Christian crusaders, and have a very humanitarian attitude to fallen comrades. they practice light magic.

Naran
Naran are a race of spirits, taking the form of sentient Glyphs and runes. They can enter the field of battle themselves, but construct golems to do the work for them. The Naran cannot physically fight, so they hide in armor and statues and animate it to move about. their buildings are often just stone slabs and tablets, where they simply move in and out. They practice rune magic.

humans
Humans are a race of magicians and demonologists. humans harnessed the power of demons to great effect when they fought off them in their first invasion. They are found in the northern most regions of the empire, and often look like cossacks, along with most of their buildings resembling the kremlin. in battle, they call the power of demons into the fight. they obviously practice demon magic.

Both a RTS and a FPS..

Is this marketed towards indecisive people or those with split personalities?

Seems cool. I have always wanted to make a game just for fun, so I wish you luck with it, that is if you are still interested in it.

Maybe I could help you if you gain interest again?
